Tesla jumps on subscription bandwagon

I’ve investigated it a bit further. Seems that Tesla has added a new tier of standard connectivity that has 8 years included with the purchase of the vehicle and thereafter must be paid for. That applies to all purchases after July 20, 2022.

I’m not sure if it matters because in 8 years, LTE will sunset and 6G or 7G will exist. And when LTE goes away, the cellular connection in the car won’t work at all anymore anyway. So we will either need a hardware update or simple connect via WiFi to our phone.
