charging at non-Tesla stations directly from the Tesla app or by tapping their Tesla key card. Charging sessions and history are also tracked within the Tesla app, giving drivers one consistent place to manage all of their EV charging activity.
The feature is now live for Tesla owners in the Netherlands, with support for more sites and countries coming soon.
I’m often critical of Tesla, but this is one where I give them their due.
Charging at other than Tesla chargers is ridiculous. Every company insists on having its own app, with the typical signup, fail, signup again, credit card, blah blah blah (and subsequent marketing messages). Simplifying this process is a real boon to drivers. Tesla should be applauded for this idea.
The feature, which first launched in the Netherlands earlier this year, is now rolling out to additional countries, including Germany and France, according to Tesla’s own support page.
