The Puritans win another battle but only in America. The rest of the world will sing in bars, pubs, and other public places.
Some warped American sensibility will cut down having a good time in public.

I guess they aren’t going for the Rocky Horror Picture Show experience.
I bet if they had silent audience showings and sing-along showings the sing-alongs would be more popular.
What’s wrong with trying to preempt or limit disruptive behavior so people can watch a movie? I don’t know how the heck they can police that policy though. Especially in light of Americans’ knee-jerk Tourette’s-like need to “express themselves” almost always with noise, lecturing, or shooting each other.
Is this kind of behavior de rigeure (pardon my French) in-theater nowadays? “Back in my day” the rule was: “be quiet and down in front other people are trying to watch a movie.”
The last movie I saw inside an actual movie theater was STAR TREK: The Motion Picture I see I haven’t been missing anything
Actually I’m quite sure there will be a second round of “sing along” with lyrics on-screen. Several musicals have done that already, so they probably want to pre-empt the tendency to do it now so they don’t lost the additional revenue stream later.
Disney is famous for it with multiple releases, but it’s also been a thing for Pitch Perfect, The Greatest Showman, A Star Is Born, Grease, and others. Milk that revenue stream, baby.
Costs virtually nothing to add subtitles, gets it Glee crowd for multiple admissions.
As long as I can still vape and grope my ol’ lady…
Are we sure this isn’t just more hype? Is the film a Universal release? I have seen Comcast tie-in adverts. NBC, owned by Comcast, has been using the evening national “news” to promote the film.
ABC “news”, and local ABC affiliates slavishly promote Disney products, and pass that off as “news”.
Steve
Yeah, it is almost like an invite to see the film.
