Initially, it seems like a good idea. It could give an economic boost just where it is needed for both countries:
Connecting a tunnel from one economic backwater area to another economic backwater area…..will “The Boring Company” get the contract? Will it ever be completed, or is it just a way of shoveling money to a connected entity, year, after year, after year?
Steve…bridge to nowhere, meet tunnel to nothing
Well, a pipeline could then be added and we could send Alaskan oil in exchange for Russian oil…
Before this year, I would have thought this project benefitted Russia more than the US, but now it could benefit the US even more, especially the top 1%.
Pete
Me too! It might help Russia develop its Eastern land which are becoming depopulated.
Perhaps it’s just Trump playing games with Putin!
Stupid idea being bantered about so two stupid people can have something stupid to talk about except Russia killing people in Ukraine.
We don’t like the Russians, they don’t like us. It’s not like East Germany/West Germany where they had some common history. The only times we pal around with them is during wartime (the Great War & WWII) when we both have an interest in doing so. The minute that “common enemy” goes away, we hate each other again.
The only possible redeeming part of it would be if they called it “The Bering Boring Tunnel” and Elon hisself financed the whole thing and put up a toll gate.
Or, of course, when both leaders have much more in common than their people.
