If you tell a lie often enough, it becomes reality – and even sometimes, a reality in real life. {{ LOL }}
I noticed that the egg price at Safeway just dropped a dollar from yesterday to $4.49/dozen

Nah, it is still a lie.
Prices still higher than when he was elected, and higher since the start of this year.
Of course. There is always some inflation. There have been very few periods of deflation (and they’re not pleasant). As noted in another thread, the CPI increase last month was the lowest in four years.

::chuckle:: Come now, you don’t expect us to believe that egg prices are up 20% since November because of “some” inflation, do you?
I certainly don’t blame all this on the administration (bird flu is largely to blame) but it is farcical to try and portray this drop in high prices as egg prices now being low or somehow in line with other inflation data.
Incorrect. The increase was not the lowest (March was actually lower as it was a decrease, not an increase), the annual rate is the lowest, just like it was the month prior - and probably the month before that, and so on. That isn’t as impressive as you keep trying to portray it - as noted in that other thread.
Here is a bet for you. Even with tariffs knocking on the door, I bet the annual CPI reading for May will be the lowest in four years.
Even better, I bet June will yet again, be the lowest in four years (and in all honesty, I hope it is otherwise we are screwed).
I was referring to general – macro – inflation. Prices for individual items can move up or down, but overall prices just go up over the months and years.
Excuse me. The annual rate last month was the lowest in four years.

Dear Bob,
Trump is out to cause deflation.
I am surprised I have not said that here before. I have been thinking it for three months.
The news today out of wallyworld
CPI inflation rises less than expected in April, with little effect from tariffs

I don’t know how they figure these things out, but here in TX where I live, a dozen eggs is down below $3 I noticed at HEB. Sams had those cases of eggs for down close to $2/dozen. I’m not wanting to argue about this, just sharing the egg price information…doc
Up to about 4-5 weeks ago, egg prices were high everywhere, so we bit the bullet and paid $5 a dozen (still less than 50 cents per egg). But over the last month or so, if we shop around, we can find better prices. Surprisingly, Costco does NOT have the best prices, last time I was there, the 5 dozen pack was $21 which comes to $4.20/dozen. Meanwhile, at some of the stores, the “fancier” eggs (free range, organic, etc) are $3.99/dozen or sometimes even $2.99. And about 2 weeks ago, one of my kids was out shopping and saw $1.99/doz special, but unfortunately there was a limit of only 2 dozen per customer.
