Aware of the big items (Russia attacking Ukraine, US response via bank cut-off), I was away from home a couple of days, so some of the other aspects of Russia-Ukraine did not fully sink in.
Other aspects?
- Both Russia and Ukraine being major grain exporters
- Energy impact: Russia being a major gas supplier to West Europe, major oil producer.
-
Direct impact on Cape vessel hauling grain, plus the scrambling to find alternate sources for some commodities

NATO/Western Europe have been a little more hesitant on applying sanctions on energy, but there is definitely an impact entering a war arena.

Obviously, China will be an consumer of those oil exports. But I think some of the trading firms will start building up oil storage (even with the current high $$/barrel) for a trade. Will be interesting to see what develops on the crude tanker sector.
(Bah! I had been eyeing Suezmax tanker owner Nordic American Tankers (NAT) about 10 days ago. Shares surged this past week)
