VW Teams Up with Rivian

As the article says, Europe only…because the Chinese are beating their brains in with low priced cars. In another forum, today, I read of a joint entreaty by Renault and Stellantis, to the EU, asking for lower regulations and safety standards, so they can build cars cheaper. Thing is, occurs to me that, if the EU standards are lowered, the Chinese cars will be cheaper too, so Renault and Pug gain nothing.

Meanwhile, I expect VW, in the US, to continue it’s strategy of the last several years, of escalating price and gross margin to the moon.

VW is also partnering with Mobileye to produce a robotaxi. Looks fairly functional. Easy to get in and out of, seats four with room for luggage.

Love to see this. I have had a small position in Rivian for a while now, to force me to pay attention to it. In the meantime, I have been running some options because I felt the company was “pretty safe” in that it has some staying power. The leadership seems to be well centered and focused. Steady as it were.

This is great news and it ups my confidence a bit more. Every time in 30yrs of investing I try to be upbeat on a car company it bites me. I stay away from 99.9999% of them now a days, but I just can break up with Rivian yet.
