Very soon it turns out, Monday!!
I generally jump on any iOS update, but when the left most number increments I like to wait for it to have at least one point update afterwards.
I’ll go ahead and jump on it, once released, it’s been in Beta a long time, the Release Candidate is out, so any last minute fixes should be there by the time we see it… I don’t do Betas, don’t need added confusions.. And I won’t update DW’s until I know mine is stable…
A bit more of what we’ll see and when…
iOS 27 won’t be the only release on Monday, as macOS Golden Gate and other releases in the OS 27 family will also drop around the same time as iOS 27.
Based on past releases, the update is likely to drop at around 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time/1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
I used to wait for the X.1 release of MacOS. Since I’ve long been a two-Mac person (desktop for home use, laptop for work), I eventually modified my practice to upgrade only one of the machines quickly (e.g. the X.0 release) and work out the kinks for a while before upgrading the second. Or sometimes I just wait for the point release for the second.
My Intel iMac still runs Sequoia and can’t update further. I’m still waiting for the replacement Mac mini with M5 Pro, which I expect will come with Golden Gate. If that’s true, I won’t have to go through the upgrade process on the mini and can wait on the MBP.
For iPhone and iPad, though, I’ve just upgraded as soon as possible. I think I’ve just learned to accept the risks, but I think the risks of something getting hosed is higher on the Macs, where I have far more applications installed. And other than making phone calls, nothing is so mission critical on either iPhone or iPad, in comparison with the Macs, that I can’t wait for fixes. And in the case of the Macs, one always serves as the backup machine for the other.

Mac OS Downloading… Aha, 20.29 Gb download! Progressing… Completed.
iOS 27 is available now, but it went to update to iOS 26.7 before going to 27, so maybe some foundation building.. ?? But when it was done, it had installed iOS 27!
Next up, WatchOS 27…
