White House Moves to Cancel Social Security Numbers for Immigrants, Forcing Self-Deportation

.. move would deprive immigrants access to checking accounts and credit cards. The policy innovation is remarkable, and the cruelty, well thought out. This should get “two thumbs up” from the base.

Give them what they voted for – good and hard.

The initial names are limited to people the administration says are convicted criminals and “suspected terrorists,” the documents show.

And, since the regime likes to do things without legal due process, if you are falsely accused of being a “suspected terrorist”, you have no means of redress. Decree that enough people are “suspected” of something, and SS is magically so hugely overfunded that the “JCs” can have another fat tax cut.

I think we know illegals borrow Social Security numbers and ids from others to make employers think they are legal. Where the same SS No is used again and again or at sites across the country hundreds of miles apart, Social Security should take note and investigate. Or numbers of the deceased. People in prison.

Its a useful database that can be used to identify frauds and illegals.

These are legal immigrants not illegal that they are targeting.

Since taking office, the Trump administration has moved aggressively to revoke the temporary legal status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who were allowed into the country under President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
Now, the administration is taking drastic steps to pressure some of those immigrants and others who had legal status to “self-deport” by effectively canceling the Social Security numbers they had lawfully obtained, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times and interviews with six people familiar with the plans.

In related news. SCOTUS rules 9-0 against Trump:

“The order properly requires the Government to ‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador,” the justices wrote in an unsigned order.

The fact that the order was issued without dissent was remarkable.

Sure. What do you think they’ll do when TFG refuses to bring him back?

“The justices “made clear that a district court judge cannot exercise Article II foreign affairs powers,” Miller wrote. He argued that El Salvador is holding “the illegal alien terrorist” in custody, not the U.S. government – leaving it unclear exactly when, or if, Abrego Garcia would be returning to Maryland.”

Not that anyone would care, but that removes a bunch of 100% profit to the social security system. If the person is using a duplicate SS#, they’re still paying into the system. But when it comes time to retire, they can’t get any benefits because benefits can only be paid to one participant.

So, yeah, I understand the policy, but for the record, it costs the country a wad of money.

The Supreme Court doesn’t have men with guns to enforce their rulings. They rely on the Justice Dept and FBI for that, and of course, these agencies report to the President.

This is likely just another step in the Court’s steep descent into irrelevancy.

And a deeper descent into mob and political violence. The rule of law breaking down is going to be very chilling for all of those that were willing to see white collar crimes over looked. Instead of young kids being murdered in their schools we will see violence perpetuated on full blown adults now.

Yes.

Might one reasonably dream something like

POTUS refuses to comply with constitutional order,
SCOTUS pushes back very hard, making this one fragment of the ongoing constitutional crisis into The CRISIS, rallying Congress, press, and populace to force a change of course?

Dream, of course.

Reasonably dream, so sorry, no, for that a Miracle must Occur.

A widespread return of caring for, taking risks for our democratic Republic, paralleling this famous moment:

At some point, members of the admin would be held in contempt. I don’t think there is a precident beyond that.

“Facilitate”? What is the definition of “facilitate”?

: to make (something) easier

: to help bring (something) about

: to help (something, such as a discussion) run more smoothly and effectively

Utterly toothless. The Justices could have stayed on the golf course.

Theoretically, the US Marshals have authority to enforce orders from the bench. But, they are under the DOJ, and the Attorney General.

Good guy, with guns, can’t do their job, when their boss won’t let them.

The administration was supposed to have told the courts earlier this day the progress on what has been done and what is coming next regarding the person illegally sent to El Salvador by mistake. I don’t believe they showed up.

Let’s face it. For all the war cry about draining the swamp and removing corruption, we have an administration that is more corrupt than this country has ever seen. They are now openly mocking and laughing at judges, ignoring federal courts, and now ignoring SCOTUS itself.

My portfolio is moving more and more to $VGK and $VXUS as my faith in the integrity of the USA is failing.

So SCOTUS, and even its Trump-appointed judges, are finally waking up to what is at stake - at least as far as its own relevancy goes.

What next if the administration keeps stonewalling?

The Trump administration’s argument, that no court could order it to retrieve Abrego Garcia despite his being deported by mistake, has broader implications: It means that the administration could similarly maroon U.S. citizens abroad “by mistake” and abandon them. Trump has openly flirted with the possibility of purposefully deporting American citizens.

Once you can be disappeared, there is no free speech, no democracy, no safety or rule of law for anyone.

That’s what they want.

TIG is expert at keeping things tied up in court, for years: make a claim, appeal all the way to SCOTUS. If he loses, make a different claim, appeal that one all the way to SCOTUS. If he loses, make a different claim. He kept a Congressional committee subpoena for one of his staffers hung up for years that way.
