Trump, Musk raise questions, without evidence, about whether nation’s gold at Fort Knox has been stolen
Why is Trump bring up this now? Seems a strange thing to do.

Squirrel!!!
Jeffrey the Squirrel? The PBS children’s show?
Wasn’t the gold stash supposedly audited, a while back, due to the rumor?
Ah, the net is a wonderful thing. “Himself” said it was going to be audited, last Feb. An (L&S) introduced legislation last month.

Well, he was just diagnosed with a serious medical issue. Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition where the veins in the legs have difficulty drawing attention away from the fact the Epstein files still haven’t been released. So this is another attempt to do so.
Good thing the Jeffreys tell the public the truth. Right?
While chronic venous insufficiency can be associated with or sometimes a sign of more serious conditions, including heart problems, it’s not a direct indication or an “emblem” of heart disease.
My castle is full of problems. Bubble bubble toil and trouble…
Did he? The linked article is from March…
This used to be called the dangerous cankle disease usually formed in people that didn’t move much!!
The term cankles is often used as a “derogatory”.
I’d never really thought about em as a sign of CV disease or Vascular Disease, PVD.
Your comment helps me be more empathetic.

Well it seems anything you say these days can be labelled derogatory.
No, cankles are not a recognized medical condition. The term “cankles” is a colloquial term used to describe ankles that appear to blend into the calf, lacking a clear definition. It’s a descriptive term, not a diagnosis. While cankles can sometimes be associated with medical conditions like venous insufficiency or edema, they are often a normal variation in body shape and size.
OK, then why did he bring it at all? I cannot see what good this would do him.
His schtick is that he is dismantling the Deep State. To that end he promotes conspiracy theories. His base eats that stuff right up. Case in point is the Epstein files. It was his DOJ that initially ruled Epstein’s death a suicide and released the report that concluded there was no client list back in 2019.
So you’d think there would be nothing to gain by promoting the idea there were secret files, but he got a lot of mileage out of it in the campaign. Not going well currently but helped him get elected.
He was apparently well schooled by the birthers during the Big O administration. No matter how many times the birth certificate was shown, no matter how many times the story was discredited, they kept promoting their narrative.

“If you repeat a lie often enough… blah, blah, blah…”
It supports one of the main theories of the case for his movement. Their view of the state of play of American society is that it’s run by a cohort of elites who have captured and exploit nearly all American institutions for their own interests, and are thus able to do whatever they want at the expense of the People without consequence or repercussions. Since the Elite have always been entirely in charge of the government (and “Elite” in their view includes nearly all ‘establishment’ Republicans as well as Democrats), of course they might have helped themselves to the gold in Ft. Knox. Better check it out, because those Elites cannot be trusted.
The same throughline grounds the Epstein story, which is why it’s causing so much trouble for Trump at the moment. But questioning whether someone’s lifted the gold from Ft. Knox is very on-brand for this type of populism.
The thing about conspiracy theories is they can’t be defeated. Anyone who disproves it is said to be part of the conspiracy. Any document that disproves it is said to be fake. Remember #43’s narrative about Iraqi WMDs? Didn’t matter how many documents Iraq provided. Didn’t matter how many times the UN inspectors said they weren’t finding anything. The #43 regime kept insisting the WMDs were being hidden, and, since Saddam did not bring them out of “hiding” as demanded, the US had no choice but to invade, we were told. Fifty years ago, I saw a cartoon of Judge Sirica listing to Nixon’s tapes, and hearing multiple clicks and pops of edits. I’m pretty sure, if there is anything incriminating in the case file, it will be scribbled out in black Sharpie.
