Wirecutter says Wix (Shopify also-ran)

The Wirecutter says Wix is the best choice for small business to build web sites:

But Shopify is also good.

They’re usually worth listening to, way more than Consumer Reports for anything technical.

Now, that’s business websites in general, not e-commerce websites in particular?

From the article:

Every designer we spoke with specifically recommended Shopify for any business that’s looking to sell goods online. Although our top picks have built-in ecommerce tools, it makes more sense for most businesses to use Shopify, or at least its Lite version, and embed Shopify’s tools into their websites—Shopify works with both of our top picks, and you won’t be locked in if you decide to change your site later.

WIX might be the best for those with no web design background. I’ve been using GoDaddy for many years for my sites (stuck in my ways?) and recently I transferred a site to WIX and wasn’t able to talk to tech support when we ran into an issue. GoDaddy answered, in English, in a few minutes and solved the problem. So I’m not switching.

Square has a partnership with GoDaddy so that Square’s online payment and appointment tools can be embedded using GoDaddy’s web-building platforms: https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/11/22/square-and-godaddy…
