Just idle speculation…will this instigate calls to search for, and imprison, “Communists” as “terrorists”? The CEO of Renault was murdered by Communists, so why not start the claims on Fox Noise that the shooter this time was a Commie?
Something actually investment related, I wondered why my Humana was smacked today. Elevance Health down 1.95%, Cigna down 1.01%, HUM down 1.08%.
Interesting market reaction with UNH. Thompson was killed before market open. Previous close for UNH was $605.23. Opened this morning at $611.02. The stock quickly shot up to $622.83. Closed at $610.79 for a gain on the “news” of 0.92% How is that an endorsement of a CEO? “He’s dead. Yay!”
The police are now investigating apparent messages left on bullet casings at the scene of the shooting, according to two law enforcement officials. Ballistics testing is continuing, the official said, but the casings appear to have been inscribed with words including “delay” and “deny” — potentially references to ways that health insurance companies seek to avoid paying patients’ claims.
“Woke establishment is getting more and more intolerant”
Pot calling Kettle Black ?
Who exactly is the driving force against any gun control reform ? Sure ain’t the “Woke Establishment”.
The odds are that America is going to see more of this in the next few years. Maybe if it’s not just school kids paying the price for fealty to the NRA gun lobby, something will change.
People who are denied care from insurance they pay for have little to no recourse. Insurance companies’ profiteering takes lives and financially ruins many of their clients. Are those people justified in comitting violence, maybe not. Should we expect desperate people to do desparate things…probably.
Be a part of the solution with dismantling and rebuilding towards a prosperous future OR be skeptical and sulk on the sidelines wishing for it to fail.
Either way, its going to happen.
Bezos is optimistic. Private sector is getting involved in the Government reform. Growth !
Of course they have recourse. The statistics overwhelmingly show that every denial should be appealed vigorously. Very few are. It’s not easy or simple, but that is the only viable recourse.
In my opinion ,the best solution is universal basic health care funded by taxes, but that may be decades away.people need to be their own advocates, and companies that use denial of claims as a way to increase profits should be sued using the class action suits if their claims denials are substantially above the average or a vast percentage of appealed claims are overturned. I strongly support c-suite penalties for egregious behavior as well.
People who are sick and facing painful and often life threatening illnesses are unable to pursue long, protracted, expensive appeals that take months or years to pursue. When I was still practicing law, I once appealed a small, roughly $8,000 bill denial for an elderly lady for free. It took me nearly a year to get all the way to federal court to get a reversal and I wrote off way more than $8,000 in time and expenses. The insurance companies make billions in profits because their victims are too sick to survive the long and protracted appeal process.
