So I just popped on for the first time in a long time and wow, is it all really gone? Is there no way to talk to my friends from years ago? Jedi….Alex…Bruce brown….?
A few old regulars are still around these parts, not many though. Some have moved to www.shrewdm.com. The format there looks like the old fool discussion site.
Hey Hockizen. It’s a shame ain’t it? They got it so screwed up and yes you are correct all the regulars abandoned ship. Also be carefu what you say or you will get placed in the corner.
Regards,

I know for a fact that “Jedi” is on the shrewd boards. His posts often are still cryptic (at least to me). But he hasn’t attacked me, so I didn’t frownie-face him. In fact, he’s civil with me because I don’t attack him, either. Therefore, I see his posts. He did change his name again.
I haven’t seen “Alex” (not sure who that is?), or BruceBrown (I remember him).
You might venture over there to see if you can find some folks you are looking for. It’s a shame TMF saw fit to remove most of the social boards. At least they kept the home maintenance board and a computer help board. I think the value of some of the other social boards is that people would then wander over to the finance boards, too. Some of those folks were savvy enough to be on TMF in the first place, and contributed to various finance discussions.
A few of the ‘cryptic’ types also seem to have appeared there, I see enough from folks that continue to respond to their empty silliness to know they are there, but that frowny face works well, as it did here.. I don’t have the patience to put up with 'em… Poof, gone!
There are Home, Vehicle, Apple & PC computer boards there, but not as active as they were here…
I’ve missed Hochizen’s postings for quite a while, hope all is well…
I’m sad to see Abadous posts are gone, but he has been very busy since he has been appointed a Federal Judge by Trump.
What are they thinking, in a day where every website is trying to get more eyes….they drive them off?
A few years ago, I applied for a job with them. The firm I was with folded…..but we had actually beat the market over all time periods and we were top ranked. Like top ten for our style, growth at a reasonable price. Ya know, I didn’t even score an interview.
Sorry to see them wreck a cool product and site. Looks like they are officially not foolish anymore. They are gurus.
I think all our older postings are still in here, somewhere, a search might find them, others may know a good way to find them… Bring Abacus back!! Altho there is resistance to political things, hence the founding of Shrewd’m..
“More eyes” don’t mean anything in the days of targeted advertising if the eyes aren’t “on target.”Having a bunch of screaming yahoo’s (much like Yahoo!’s) doesn’t help, it only requires oversight and maintenance, which is ‘cost’.’ What good do irrelevant eyeballs do?
There is no advertising here; the decision *(total guess) was probably driven by a need to do something better on the paid side, and the free side comes along with minimal extra effort, and perhaps serves a small marketing function of introducing new people to the Fool. But when they arrive if they are put off by political shenanigans, food fights, and other, well, that’s not helpful.
There’s a natural attrition to any site, even those that are building, and you’ve been gone for years, so expect some names to have disappeared. That said, almost the entire contingent of Berkshire-items decamped for Shrewdm, so there was a big loss there. And those were were enamored with Political Asylum also left, as there was no food fighting allowed at the new place.
Nice to see you back, even if only for a minute. Some of us are still here. The place is cozy enough not to be overwhelmed, big enough to have a variety of opinion, mostly interested in stocks, markets, or other things financial. It’s, you know, OK. Like a hangout bar from 20 years ago. Some familiar faces. A few new. Dirty corners. Old war stories. That sort of thing.
Goofy! Good to see ya!
There used to be a special method to search out old posts but I have long forgotten the methodology, and it may not work any more regardless.
@DrBob2 I think you might have once shared such?
