Bear's Portfolio through 10/2024

Large Positions:

AMZN is my only large position at present. For me to concentrate into a position, I need to believe the future is bright and the value is right. (For example, I believe MSFT and GOOG have bright futures too, but I see their prices as less favorable.)

Amazon ended Oct about where it started the month. (Luckily it seems to be up after hours today.)

Small Positions:

Sometimes I keep positions small because of price (see above), but other times it has to do with not having full conviction in the company (conviction should be built over time, IMO).

This was a ridiculous month for RDDT and ROOT. I mean wow. The others were hit or miss. I don’t really have a lot of strong takes on these, which is why they are small positions.

Sold:

I sold Transmedics because IMO the quarter was a thesis-buster, I took Zscaler profits when it was up, and I sold Nubank as I see potential downside if they only grow 4% sequentially like last quarter (or do worse!)

That leaves me with just 8 positions. I’d like to have more. Hopefully I’ll find some stuff soon!

PS - I still believe keeping score is a worthwhile thing. I’m including my gains as a postscript because I want to de-emphasize it. I don’t want it to sound like bragging. But maybe it can inspire some, especially the young investor who is newer to the game. When I was such a person, I never dreamt this was possible:

“Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it.” - Attributed to Albert Einstein

Hi Bear,
Thanks. As always, an interesting read. I am curious, why aren’t you including your allocations in your write up these days?

Best,

Hi Bear. Looking back it looks like you say you trimmed AXON in August, but it appears you held none in Sept? Without opening any wounds I wonder if you could tell me what was your move there?
Also even tho I trimmed today above $550 my thinking is that it has more growth potential now than it did before Nov. 5th? Thoughts? Tim.
