I’m certainly at great fault on this for starting the threads. I’m really sorry. I never dreamed these guys would all of a sudden chime in and feel entitled to tell us how to invest, especially when they know little or nothing about our stocks, or what our board is about, and when the most persistent admitted that he sold out of all his stocks in 2012! … 2012, for God’s sake. (I’m up 702% since 2012, so that’s what his smart investing cost him! 702%!). It’s probably best to simply not respond to them.
And let’s stick with discussions of Mongo or Nutanix or whatever growth stock you are looking for.
I put Elastic on my alert list at Seeking Alpha so I’ll know when the IPO is coming out. Thanks to ever alerted us about that.
I’m also puzzled that Okta rose 15% after earnings while Zscaler was down 5% or so, although Zscaler had better results all up and down the board. Anyone have any explanation for that? (Of course, on Friday ZS gained it all back and more. I guess people recognized the same thing that I did.)
I am actually grateful he admitted to pulling out in 2012. I suppose it takes guts to admit that, and I did appreciate that. I also stopped reading his post after that, but still I appreciated it!

knows sometimes you have to see the forest through the trees, but don’t ignore the trees either!
At the risk of adding more clutter to this discussion I feel compelled to emphaize something Saul said which I have felt all weekend as I waded through mostly useless post.
It’s probably best to simply not respond to them.
People on this board feel driven to respond to any attack on Saul’s style of investing and that just sets off another round of back and forth essentially useless posts.
I have appreciated and followed Saul since well before this board existed. I know why I follow him and I feel I am also reasonably aware of the risks in his approach I don’t need to be warned but I also don’t need to read a defense of his approach and attacks on naysayers.
Let’s all try and follow basic behavior modification strategies, ignor a behavior (off topic or attacking posts) and it will get extinguished. Reward it (respond to it) and it gets stronger.
I promise I will not post again about this incredibly annoying pattern.

I think this last round of discussion was very enlightening. I never in my wildest dreams would think that someone would be out of the market for 6 years, and feel that they should be giving people advice on how to invest. This just shows the extremes people will go to escape risk. Every time someone comes on this board and tries to tell me how risky my stocks are or how I need to be careful, I will remember this post. In fact I think this post should be on the right hand of this board to explain to everyone exactly how not to invest. Some people are so afraid of losing that they have lost without even trying. People if you have learned one thing from all these conversations remember that post. Never again will I respond to the people coming onto this board to state that what we are doing is to risky, because I will remember 2012.

To be fair, I wouldn’t have staid out for all that time if I hadn’t needed the money for first buying land on Boracay and then for buying an apartment in Manila.
I’ll see if I can sell the Boracay land after Duterte hopefully lets people back on the island in October.
Fingers crossed the Elastic does not become the overhyped IPO of the century, but maybe we can get in on what looks like an excellent company to invest in. I am sure the board will keep us apprised as the IPO news comes into focus.

I’m with ya! Or even worse, the company gets acquired pre-IPO like Adaptive Insights was. 3 hours of research down the drain. lol
In the meantime, I’ll be all over it, except for the pending “overhyped, overvalued, too risky” Elastic article from Gary Alexander haha
