I posted about this some time ago but don’t know how to find that thread to continue it. So …
Anyway, my new Dell computer has crashed over two dozen times since I bought it in May 2025. I have never experienced this before. I’ll call Dell but I’m not hopeful. They aren’t great at customer service. I’m going to demand a replacement. I doubt they will comply. And then I’ll have to spend two days installing all my software again.
Is this a Windows 11 thing maybe? My last computer, Windows 10, was the best a most problem free computer I’ve ever had. But it was 8 years old and I couldn’t make it last longer. Besides, I would have been forced to upgrade due to Windows 11 anyway.
I’m stumped. Why would it just shut down so freakin’ often? Oh for the days of a whole paper life, LOL!

This again? I thought this problem had gone away (wishful thinking perhaps).
Look in the Windows Event Logs for any tell tale messages. Things relating to hardware exceptions or drive errors.
Here are examples from my laptop - using the Event Viewer:
System log:
Application log:

Yes, this again! It’s unreal.
Here is a print screen from about the time of the last crash. Today. I don’t know what this can tell me. All it says is “The previous system shutdown at 11:07:53 AM on 10/21/2025 was unexpected.”

Browse around to the other errors and info events for more clues. You can also save all events as a .evtx file using the Actions menu and perhaps upload it here for us to examine as well.

That’s probably a good idea. The longer you wait, the more resistant they will be. It may already be out of warranty (six months?).
Checking the logs is a good idea, but it isn’t always obvious from them what the problem is. Their customer service should be walking you through this stuff on the phone, give how new the machine is. Usually it would generate a crash report, but I don’t know if you can access that (I’ve never tried).
If you do get a replacement, I would run it as-is for a few days to be sure it wasn’t crashing. What’s your average time between crashes? Then, one at a time, install your software over the course of a few weeks. Make sure it isn’t crashing. It’s unlikely, but possible, that a particular program is responsible. Maybe it doesn’t play nice with Win11.
I’m on Win10, and have no plans to replace my beast. It’s humming along just fine. When it becomes an issue to be obsolete, I’ll address it at that time.
