Diego García buildup

Seven C17 aircraft have also been tracked landing on the remote atoll, suggesting transportation of equipment, personnel and supplies, and refuelling aircraft have been repositioned to strategic locations.

You think this just about Yemen, or something else?

I would not think we would need B-2 Stealth to deal with rebels. :man_shrugging:

On a side note, it would rather suck to be assigned to Diego Garcia. I’ve been stationed to some remote places but Diego Garcia takes the cake. Tropical, yes, but the thing is barely an atoll of a few miles long and wide with nothing else on it.

I thought Diego García got deported.

That’s a lot of fire power! What’s going on here? Saber rattling or war mongering?

Based on the Signal info, sounds like the Houthi operation was just the start of something bigger. Talking about renumeration from Egypt and the EU for one bombing campaign also seems silly.

Next big conflict, he we come!

I can think of two possibilities

  1. Not letting go of Diego Garcia, the unsinkable aircraft carrier
  2. Neutering Iran’s Nuclear Initiatives [NINI]

Or both.

I’m focused on Iran. A week or so ago, Trump warned Iran that he considered the Houthis and Iran to be one and the same.

Last October Israel took care of Iran’s missile defenses, so there is that.

Sure, there are those possibilities. I wonder if our administration is managing impacts from our buildup in the IOR.

  • What will China do?
  • What will Russia do?
  • What will India do?

Failure to coordinate with others in the region can easily lead to escalation. Let’s hope we still have some chess players in the DoD. Being mediocre at checkers isn’t going to cut it.

We have always been at war with Eurasia.

Too many pieces–and choices–to comprehend.

I’m betting on Iran as well. In between terms, the current TIC showed classified US attack plans on Iran to visitors at Mar a Lago. The issue was that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley had convinced TIC that an invasion of Iran was impossible, and the battle plans were proof (in his mind) that TIC had been mislead. After the inauguration, Milley’s portrait was removed the a wall of the Pentagon where other Joint Chief’s portraits are displayed, his security clearance was revoked, and he was fired from a civilian government position.

So, there seem to be personal reasons why TIC wants to go to war with Iran.

Looks like you found it! It’s also included in the article I linked.

Beats me. Seems dumb. I’m glad Milley was able to convince him not to do it.

I wasted time to document the abuse of acronyms, I didn’t waste the time to find our what the heck IOR might mean.

If you want to communicate think about your audience.

There are other people abusing acronyms. The proper use of acronyms is to ‘document’ it’s first use:

One acronym…Oh My God [OMG].

OMG this…

OMG that…

OMG the other…

Abuse and misspelling of acronyms is epidemic from social media to the pages of the NYT and the WSJ, who over use, under define, and often print acronyms in lower case. :face_vomiting:
