Everyone is getting into the LLM game now

Amazon is rolling out its own large language model (i.e. their own ChatGPT) on a limited preview basis on their cloud service now:

I have a friend in clinical data management who is getting all excited about these things and what it could do for his industry if only he had a model trained on his industry. Something like this could eventually let him (and anyone) do that. This could get exciting. And profitable.

I’m expecting that Google will eventually enter this space as well.

The issue is not AI.

The issue is search. More and more people speak into the mic to make a search query.

Amazon in the US is something like half of all sales online. This means the company needs this inroad into search.

AI is just another way to distort search results.

No. Its not. I can already to search by voice – it’s called speech to text followed by a text query. Amazon is not rolling out GPT’s to customers who can then customize those models with their own data set so that they can search for something…

I did not mean to say they were. But you can not say they wont be in some form later on. More importantly it is not the search on the end user’s part. It is the response to data on the merchant’s part.
