Federal Workers who's jobs are at risk

… basically anyone who uses science and arithmetic in their work duties.

The Barrons article is behind a paywall. Could you except, say, three paragraphs with some information, types of jobs, agencies and such?

All Federal workers were given an email stating that all DEI programs would be stopped and if anyone had changed the name of DEI programs to EEO since November 5th that the Government needed to be told. Anyone that knew of any DEI programs or programs that the name were changed had 10 days to report it to the government or they and all people who were involved would be held responsible.

Now think about that.

My post about conformity was FA’d.

It shouldn’t have been. Talk to any federal employee and see what is going on. It is deeply concerning. Telling people to turn in their co-workers and if they don’t they will be held responsible? I don’t think that has ever been done in the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT.

It was the same where I worked, especially at the pump seal company, and RS. Give full throated support to the “JC’s” delusion/dictate, or be pushed out.

A company is much different than a Government position. Let’s not normalize this ok?

I dunno to be honest. I know there’s always been a push for people to report suspected spying and corruption. It may not have included the threat of disciplinary action, but again, I dunno.

The attack against DEI in the name of meritocracy doesn’t square with loyalty interviews. Bonkers.

Why would a private sector “JC” suddenly change his way of doing things, when he is running a government?

As noted in the other thread, I expect Costco and Microsoft to be punished for persisting with DEI programs.

So if a President was to say that anyone who is religious or has ever brought up God must be reported to the government. Well that would be ok?

This is what Communist and Natsi type governments did to strike fear into the masses they wanted to control. This is not freedom! This is unconstitutional!

Clearly I think our current situation is bonkers. I don’t understand why you’re asking me if it’s OK.

The point I was trying to make is that reporting suspected spying and corruption have always been expectations for government employees, but I’m not sure if disciplinary action has been threatened for failing to report these two issues. If it has, than it’s an example of:

I’m not saying that targeting DEI in this way is good, I may be the most pro-DEI dude on this board. But none of this should be surprising.

One thing that helps me keep the remaining sanity I have left is this - The Joseph McCarthy Experience. We’re currently experiencing one of the many examples of serious shenanigans the US has faced in the past. We pulled through before, we’ll do it again.

Are we weeks, months, years or more, or never, from this moment re-echoing

(this particular video shows much more than is usual of the highly relevant background and mutual reactions on the psychology of the McCarthy Cohn attack team in the moment as McCarthy revealed too much for the people to finally stomach):

I’m hoping for days or weeks, would be happy for months, would begrudgingly accept years, but I’m fearful that it will never happen.

Thanks for sharing. American Experience is awesome! Here’s a link to the McCarthy page -

Won’t matter. They ones that it would need to impact don’t care.

Even worse, they cheer the lack of decency as not only warranted, but needed.

Just a conversation eldemonio not an accusation. It’s a question that all of us must answer because that is the road all of this is going down.

An ironic side comment on Joe McCarthy in USAian politics.

I spent 1971-1972 organizing against the War in Vietnam and against Prez Nixon. I spent 4 months in New Hampshire from October until February going door to door, addressing bars and various social groups, and especially organizing and registering college students. I talked to tens of thousands of people, and so so so many were so sad that “good old McCarthy” had not gotten the Dem Prez nomination “after he beat LBJ here in New Hampshire.”

I came away convinced that most of the 1968 votes for anti-war Gene McCarthy against LBJ in that famous New Hampshire near upset (LBJ won nevertheless but it was close enough that LBJ lost heart) were from voters who thought “good old Joe McCarthy” had somehow resurrected and was trying to save the USA from commies like LBJ.

But Joe McCarthy died in 1957? I realize you might be being facetious. Nowadays, with the crazies believing crazy things, it’s hard to tell.
