Should we talk about Murdoch now?
I sold after it had a significant run up in price (about 30% if I recall) because I thought it was overvalued. I then bought again a few months later after it came back down to my initial purchase price, only to lose that 30% as it continued to fall (this was all pre-Covid, and I think pre-profitability) and I eventually sold to breakeven.
The antonym of having decorum is not lying. One can speak their mind without accusing someone of wanting to destroy society. It is facetious hyperbole that serves no purpose.
I do. I am also familiar with an ad hominem attack. Discredit the source when you can’t discredit the data. Do you also have something negative to say about Morning Consult?
And you don’t see that as problematic?
Hawkwin
Who was once a diehard libertarian, then a locally elected Republican, and now a man without a party - but sees no value in a company willfully angering a significant portion of what was once they primary client base.
Edit: In other words, I could not care less about his politics. I care about how he is making a fool of himself weekly and how that is a drag on business. Sure, they are selling all the cars they make, but they are also selling them for much less than they were last year. If demand was as strong as it once was, that would not likely be the case.
First, Trotsky and Marx did not work behind the scenes. They were very open about their intentions. Heck, Marx published a book about his intentions. In fact, I know of a few revolutionaries we Americans admire. I have pictures of some of them in my wallet.
Soros is attacked by the far right, white supremacists, and neo nazis. This is not some strange coincidence. It is exactly because he is Jewish. Care to guess which Fed Chairmen they choose to attack, too?
Musk’s comments were anti-Semitic. Period. Full stop.
If you really believe it has nothing to do with Soros being Jewish, I think you’re naive.
After over 2,000 years of persecution, I believe the Jewish people are quite aware of when they’re being attacked.
I don’t know who they are, never heard of them so I have no opinion. I’ve known about Blodget for over a decade and it is just a fact, nothing ad-hominem about not trusting the guy.
No. One has to make choices in life which have consequences. Clearly I side with Musk on this issue.
I doubt his intention was to ‘willfully anger a significant portion of what was once their primary client base.’ American politics took a turn he didn’t like and Musk acted on his conscience. Having changed parties he is still saving Gaia from CO2 pollution. Isn’t that what this protesting client base wants?
Have you not noticed two things
- There is a recession happening
- Tesla prices are very close what they used to be before the Covid-19 supply chain disruption.
Tesla has been very successful in their pricing strategy.
The Captain
That’s a good one. Musk has a conscience? Sociopaths don’t really have a conscience. They act purely on their own self interest.
Free speech? Mainly for himself. If you are an oppressed minority in Turkey, no free speech for you. Saving the planet from CO2? Only as a side effect of making money to get himself to Mars.
Everything the guy does is consistent with being a high functioning sociopath.

This conversation is “Period. Full stop.”
The Captain
For Elon’s base, it might be a feature, not a problem.
Whoever said speaking his mind is not spreading lies? Bigotry is the lie.
The guy needs an intervention - needs to get off of 8Chan:
Elon Musk Says He Went Too Far Against Billionaire George Soros
“I’d like apologize for this post,” the billionaire posted on May 17, suggesting that Soros is even worse than the supervillain. “It was really unfair to Magneto.”
…
“Does the public realize that Soros wants open borders? Literally not even checking to see if they’re convicted serial killers on the run, which has happened more than once,” Musk argued on May 18, without providing evidence.
…
“In fairness, I must concede that [Jonathan] has a good point,” the billionaire commented. “And I will endeavor to be more thoughtful in the future. Comic book analogies are obviously imperfect, to say the least. Just because George Soros can bend metal using his mind doesn’t mean he’s Magneto!!”
Of course Musk spreads lies without providing evidence. Because there IS NO evidence to back his lies which, coincidentally, are also spread (like manure) by right-wing extremists.
Technology Musk - idiot savant
Non-technology Musk - just an idiot
If you type in “Does Soros support open borders” you get quite a bit of evidence. Read the sight you chose to trust.
Ok, I Googled exactly that, and got this:
Sure, I Googled it. The very first site that came up had this (again, there is no evidence he supports open borders). Lots of right wing, white supremacist sites make claims, but none offer proof.
Although some projects backed by the Open Society foundation support migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, the claim that Soros wants to encourage immigration in order to erase cultural differences to promote “capitalism without borders” is disinformation not backed by evidence despite being [frequently repeated by pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets]
There are several sights that report different views than what you shared.
My point is that people will believe the reporting of sights that align with their own beliefs. They will discredit those sights that have different points of view, such as both of you did.
And that’s ok with me, not that you need or want my opinion/approval. It’s just my observation of people here.
And one more thing. Is it just me or have a lot of posts become political here?
There are a few people who have issues…
Captain the attack is finding his Jewish background as a useful means to attack him.
That is not true.
I agree with Musk’s crusade into tech. I agree Musk needs to sell the right wing on EV not the left wing.
Musk always strikes me these days as the angry divorcee who just does not get it. If it wasn’t the Jews this week it would be someone else next week. His statements are angry because of his own actions. Others are just his whipping boys.
Nonsense.
We’re not talking about opinions, we’re talking about facts.
Do you have a quote by Soros saying he supports open borders? Maybe an opinion piece he wrote? Give money to a group that supports open borders? Something? Anything?
No? Then it’s a lie.
It is much more nuanced than that.
but why deal in facts instead of making the gun smoke?
As usual ignore people who wont make sense. We do not need more tax cuts for the wealth because we do not need more debt created that way.
Soros is not without fault.
I get this is using a wedge issue. But Soros only does what Soros wants regardless of how that plays.
Again as to how that plays people who want to see to themselves only wont like anything we do.
My position is not that Soros is without fault. No human is. My position is that I have never seen anything from him that says he wants open borders.
Show me otherwise and I’ll revise my position.
