Good for business?

Not exactly what you asked for, but one that makes you wonder about the guy. This is from one of his books supposedly.

“If truth be known, I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood which I felt I had to control, otherwise I might end up in the loony bin. But when I made my way in the world I wanted to indulge myself in my fantasies to the extent that I could afford.” ~ George Soros
“Underwriting Democracy: Encouraging Free Enterpirse And Democratic Reform Among The Soviets In Eastern Europe”. Book by George Soros, 1991.

And the following link has other quotes, but the question is, how many are accurate?

Finally, look at the groups and organizations he funds. It’s proof enough for me that Mr. Soros and I don’t share the same values.

This is my last post on this subject. I feel I’ve stretched the rules here already. Thanks for the responses.

Fair enough. I have no issue with people looking at the same facts and drawing different conclusions. That’s one of the things that makes the world so interesting.

More price cuts in line with lower demand:

https://www.investors.com/news/tesla-finds-pricing-detour-to-outmaneuver-headlines-elon-musk-says-automakers-do-this-all-the-time/?src=A00220

Snip:

On Friday, Tesla began offering discounts of around $1,300 on new rear-wheel drive Model 3 inventory in the U.S. On Monday, the EV company extended discounts of up to around $2,800 for all-wheel drive Model 3 vehicles. However, the vast majority of all-wheel drive Model 3 cars on Monday had discounts of $250.

Last week, Musk told shareholders the company has been cutting vehicle prices to match demand in 2023.

“It’s pretty straightforward,” Musk said during the annual meeting on May 16. “We see what the demand is and then we adjust pricing to meet the demand.”

But, I am sure they will sell every car they make.

Hawkin,

That wasn’t meant a a rebuke…I just meant to say…

Assuming the broader market doesnt go down, I doubt TSLA is ever going to see its lows from Dec/ Jan…

I don’t know if Elon has his mojo back (as stated in some articles), but as a fascinated observer, TSLA stock looks like it has got its mojo back, to me at least!!
:grinning:

No, I get it, and I thought about that when I posted such. Heck UPST is up 25% today and I have no idea why on that one either.

Reason for UPST being up 25% is easy - SHORT SQUEEZE !!!

I am sure TSLA is not in short squeeze as yet…but if ( may be, when) it does get there…

Wow, that would be something!!!

It’s absolutely true that automakers do this on a regular, even weekly basis. That’s why it often better to buy at the end of the month when the dealers extend better pricing to juice volumes … and they get better pricing from the manufacturer with those higher volumes. And the automakers change the pricing to the dealers all the time behind the scenes, either by directly changing the pricing, or by what they call “incentives”, but either way it results in a lower price for the vehicle. The fact that it’s hidden from direct view by the consumer, because the dealers are in between, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. In Tesla’s case, because the price is right there on the website, we, the consumers, directly see every change that happens.

Thanks for the info! It’s interesting to know that automakers change prices often, especially at the end of the month to boost sales. It makes sense that dealers have some hidden discounts. Unlike traditional brands, Tesla shows all their price changes online, which is nice for buyers!

Of course, Tesla also changes their prices relatively often, sometimes not the direct price, but the other ancillary offers. Things like 1.99% financing, or various lease deals, or discounted option packages (buy FSD get premium color and premium white interior, etc).
