My DW’s iPhone 11 Pro has been giving her fits the past week or so, morning comes, and it wasn’t charged, even tho it was connected all night, or so we thought… I swapped cables, cleaned the contacts, tried different chargers, and even in the RAV4 on the way to the Apple Store, it was disconnecting, connecting, depending on how she moved, so likely the internal connector may be marfed…
Anyway, we ended up spending the afternoon in the Corte Madera Apple Store (crowded as usual), buy two new iPhone 15’s a Pro for her, Pro Max for me… Trade in value for our 11’s was better than Verizon’s, so there we went… I had somehow turned off iCloud Backup on my old one, so I hung out when it was totally coped to the new one, then paired the Watch to the new 15, and we were done! By the time we got home, all my Apps had been brought in, after we were home, DW’s new phone decided it needed to do an iCloud restoral… Completed…
The beauty of unlimited high-speed cellular data! In the old days of data caps, nobody would dare allow that to happen until they got home and connected to WiFi.
Well, our VZ Data Plan isn’t unlimited, but we rarely bump into it’s limits, I think it’s a shared 12 Gb, generally we’re on either our own of family, friends Wifi… I’ve yet to update my WiFi router from its Airport Extreme roots… One day Mesh, I guess…
On the charging issue, one other approach might have been to see if induction charging worked. A bit of a PITA to have nothing else, but perhaps worth keeping in mind. (My only place to charge that way is built into my car.)
Yes, and I use it on mine all the time, just have to be sure it’s positioned right… But DW was resistant, any bump would move it oof, even tried a stand, but that wasn’t working for her either… Our new RAV4 has a charging plate, but for a 2nd iPhone, a cable is needed, lots of USB ports to pick from… But now I need to update all my cables!
OK, New iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max for us after fighting charging issues on my wife’s 11 Pro… Various foibles, gradually sorting them out… Here’s one:
I couldn’t see the new iPhone in the Finder window, it was still showing up as my old 11 Pro Max, this solved that… Just have to ask the right question!
We received our next Verizon bill, and there was some confusion. I’d received a call, message while in Mexico, it showed on my bill as a Credit of a few dollars, somehow, a little down arrow escaped my eyes for a bit, but that’s OK…
What did cat my eye was a $35 Update fee for each new iPhone 15… Hmmm, went to the Verizon Store, he couldn’t help, but said to call Customer Service, 611… That worked out well, the lady Removed both $35 charges without a fuss, initially $60, but when I questioned if she could do better, she in fact took off the full $70 Update fee charges! Success! She also noted we’d been Verizon Cell customers for 21 Years!! Time flies…
I gave her the best ratings I could on the review that popped up… GO VZ!!
