Yes the Defense has sign contracts to Quadruple Missile-Interceptor Production. Unfortunately the current missile defense factories are operating nearly at full capacity now. Building new production facilities will take time.
It was never going to be anything but a draw. Sure, we neutralized most of their military. But we were doomed to failure, and Iran was going to seize the Strait. Evidently, senior advisors under several presidents knew that would happen. This administration ignored them, thinking they knew better, and it turned out exactly as had been predicted for the past 30 years or more.
Actually, I think Iran won. They still have a regime. They control the Strait. They may not be able to stop us from bombing them, but we can’t topple their regime or open the Strait. Overall, they won.
We might want to set up our own blockade of the Strait. If the Iranians are letting anything through, it’s probably not to whom we would want it to go (e.g. China). Though that isn’t sustainable without resupply bases, of which we don’t have many anymore (“peace dividend”…remember that?).
…and that regime was detested and resisted by a large part of the population who had looked to us for actual help rather than ineffectual death and destruction.
That has got to suck. Being deployed to a facility that very likely was not designed to house that many troops for that long can be miserable. Begin on constant alert but never doing anything (and, they very likely will lose their airborne status if they don’t jump at least once every three months - unless waived by high level command) can fray the nerves.

And now an even more radical and hostile regime, destroyed US bases all over the Middle East, depleted missile stores, angry allies, and the Strait of Hormuz at least partially closed and the Houthis threatening shipping in Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
Any sentient being would be hard pressed to describe this as anything but a foreign policy catastrophe.

It is pointed out, but in print media (like NYT). And overseas. Video media is utterly useless in this country. The best reporting we get on video is from comedians. Seriously. It is a sad state of affairs when the most accurate “talking heads” are John Oliver and SNL and TDS.
What is needed is for you to specify what years we have been at war and when at peace.

We’re not at war, Bob. In fact, this administration has exceeded (by a lot) the amount of time legally allowed for “limited” actions. Congress hasn’t declared war, nor approved continuing hostilities past the limit (I think 90 days, without looking it up).
But since at least 2001, our troops have been in skirmishes and covert ops pretty much continually. Plus that authorized business in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Maybe there was “peace” right after the Wall fell. Before the terrorists ramped-up against us. By the 90s it already had begun (the first Twin Towers attack).
Sure. It’s wrong, technically. We have not been in a state of war since WWII. Though the nuances would undoubtedly be lost for vets from Korea, 'Nam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. But all those were at least authorized, if not technically “war”. Presently, Iran is neither declared nor even authorized. I’m not sure where he’s getting the money, because I don’t believe Congress has released any additional funding for this little adventure.
