Help with Google search

Several months ago on this board someone posted the parameters to use for a google search of specific posts on Saul’s Investing Discussions. I wrote it down and saved it but apparently did so incorrectly. When I search using my notes I get no hits. Can anyone remind me how to do site and term specific Google searches?

Thanks,

David

Hi David, I saved it too:

If you put the ticker inside double quotes in the search box (Motley Fool’s) - “LGIH” - it will search the boards. You can try it in the box at the top of this page.

I don’t know about drilling down as far as Saul’s board but you can drill down to a specific website

site:discussion.fool.com searchTerm

Thanks Saul and Denny!

The easy way: Just put the board name in quotes in a google search:

"Saul's Investing Discussions"

Or if you really want to avoid any possible false hits:

site:[discussion.fool.com](http://discussion.fool.com) "Saul's Investing Discussions"

However, Google doesn’t seem a reliable way to search this board. I’ve frequently found that postings I know exist can’t be found via a google search.

thanks Saul- all this time on MF and I did not know about the " " trick

That can happen when the page has a robots meta tag

CONTENT=“NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW”

or if the file is excluded in the robots.txt file

Soypollo,

Thanks for that help. I used the search to find my AHS post.
