How to Search in the Board

Hi

Someone posted how to search specific topics on the board.

Would moderators mind adding it to the “Announcement” section like ethan1234’s post for “My answers to questions for the board”?

I’m trying to look for the discussion on ESTC.
Thank you!

Eddie

You can put your search terms into the google search bar and append “site:fool.com”. The animation below shows you how.

Example:

“TWLO” “Saul’s Investing Discussions" site:fool.com

Short answer: get to the discussion boards home page, and type ESTC into the search box

  1. Type stock name (eg. ESTC) in all CAPS into box on upper right with magnifying glass
  2. Scroll to bottom of (ESTC) page
  3. Click on “Discussions”
  4. Click on “More Discussions”

This will bring you to Discussion Boards Home page

  1. Enter “ESTC” in search box on upper right
  2. Click ‘send’ on non-secure warning box
7)Filter search results on Fool.com (upper right)

You should get a long list of ESTC posts, most are on this board or on NPI

Good luck,
Oli

Thank you guys appreciate all your help.

Hey, Motley Fool. Why do you still have the only message boards on the internet that need instructions on how to search them. Time to upgrade your software (actually, that time was 10 years ago).

Perhaps you’ve identified a great candidate for Elastic!

FYI, I just tried both methods mentioned in the above thread. The google search worked but returned results that didn’t seem to be sorted in a way I’d expect. On the other hand, The Motley Fool appeared to hang (on my phone) so I eventually gave up waiting for their result set.

While I tend to agree with the sentiment about improving things in general, we have to remember that this is a free board - and we’ve gotten a whole lot more than we paid for!

This is what I use:

Then enter the term for which you want to search, and ignore the advertisements at the top.

Hi Smorg,

That is not a secure search (it doesn’t use https:) and I get warnings about hackers causing redirects when I try to use it. Do you get that?

Enjoy,
Brian
