Existing tunnels from 1911 damaged by Storm Sandy to be repaired by closing one tunnel at a time. Construction to begin on new tunnels. New tunnel completion due 2035.

From the link:

" Analysts from the Regional Plan Association — a non-profit regional planning firm — predict that trans-Hudson River travel demand is likely to meet or exceed pre-pandemic ridership levels, the Times reported."

An interesting prediction in the face of the continuing movement to work from home, although many companies are requiring showing up at least occasionally.

I suppose they would know best… other than recognizing they are probably counting on continued future planning fees from the government if they recommend spending the money. Am I too cynical?

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.

These tunnels are part of the Northeast corridor line connecting washington dc with Boston. This is where Acela our fastest train runs.

New tunnels are needed.
