Progress is being made but no mention of replacing the 1911 tunnels that carry traffic to and from New Jersey under the Hudson River. This Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor line that serves Acela, America’s fastest train (as well as New Jersey Transit commuter lines) into NYC.

" The governor emphasized the urgency of fixing Penn Station and made clear that the project now is advancing. Hochul said the proposed $7 billion overhaul of the station will advance with or without development of several office towers that were supposed to help fund the project, The New York Times reported."

I’m a bit confused on this. I thought that Penn Station already got its big upgrade - the new Moynahan Train Hall at Penn Station.

What’s this new initiative going to do? Enhance the train track configuration underneath Penn Station? The scope of this new project was not clear to me by reading the linked article.

My kids live in NYC - They  the new Moynahan Train Hall. Much better organized than the old Penn Station.

You may be better informed than I am, but building the new tunnels means that the old ones have to remain in service until the new ones are ready. Tracks underground need to be reconfigured. And sounds like they may be doing lots more.
