I just ordered my 4 free COVID tests

Gov’t opened the website a day early at limited capacity.

Beat the rush. Get them before they’re all gone.

I suspect the inventory will be quickly stripped, by people using large numbers of doppels to round up a lot of them, then sell them at a profit on sites like eBay.

Hopefully the sterile shrink-wrap packaging says “Not for Resale”, so people can spot the fraudsters.

Pathetic.

My brother in the UK went to the pharmacy and picked up 10 boxes, 6 lateral flow tests per box, free of charge. His kids are given two boxes per week at school to bring home.

We can get four free tests, for a family of five.

I’d buy them, but there aren’t any to buy in the stores.

The tests won’t be readily available until we devise a way to let the for-profit health insurers skim 20% of the purchase price off the top. They’re the ones who bought & paid for our Congresscritters. They expect a return on the investment.

Just ordered my tests.

Ordered also. No problems.

The UK (with its socialized medicine - HORRORS! has their testing s**t COMPLETELY together. You can order PCR tests and antigen tests from any one of tens of websites for short money ($20-$50 per test kit depending on what you need) and they get delivered within a few days. They’re all registered.
You take the test in your apt/house, send in your PCR in a pre-labeled box in the mail and get the result within 48 hours over email.
If it’s antigen, you take a picture of the stick with the test number on a piece of paper, email it in and get a certificate back in 30 minutes.

Yes, their population is only the total of CA, NY and FLA combined.

But the utter incompetence of our government and pharmaceutical labs at being prepared for this kind of a wave is outrageous - especially given the billions of dollars Congress allegedly threw at this in the CARES Act 10 months ago.

One wonders what companies are supposed to be fulfilling & shipping these billion orders that website is going to be inundated with in the next week.

Do Medicare and Medicaid cover at-home COVID test kits?

Bxxxx’s new rules on reimbursement for at-home COVID-19 tests don’t currently apply to Medicaid and Medicare, although Bloomberg Government reports test kit producers are lobbying to change that.

They pay for them! - HORRORS! What kind of socialized medicine is that? }};-D

Our family doc is a Brit that was enticed to move to Canada. She seems to enjoy getting paid according to what she actually does but is just a wee bit too enthusiastic at finding excuses for call backs and testing at times.

Our covid tests are all free to the patient … but occasionally limited availability as the Feds bulk order them then distribute them to the provinces. Nova Scotia just gave a huge number of Rapid tests to the schools that reopened yesterday and the kids can bring a couple of them home each week for their parents. About 8% of the kids didn’t show up yesterday so the parents are probably keeping them home?

OT - Hints from some of our provinces (including our largest by population Ontario) that the increase in new Omicron cases appears to be slowing. Fingers and toes crossed.

They are Tory socialists. Makes a difference.

We still consider ourselves to be 50 states (plus the district and territories) that are only partially subordinate to the Federation. States constantly fight to protect their prerogatives. That puts us at a disadvantage when it comes to national coordination.

But I agree, we ought to be doing better.

Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order #4 free at-?home COVID-?19 tests. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. Order your tests now so you have them when you need them.

17 days later still no tests.

Another failure of Gov’t, or the Post Office.

We were told we could each pick up a five pack at our local library today but freezing rain, icy streets and we still have 16 tests left in my filing cabinet so we didn’t bother. We simply don’t need a lot of them as we rarely leave the condo except to stock up on groceries … well Sunday is Granddaughter’s birthday and we are invited?

So why hoard them?

I ordered ours before it was announced to the public, and we are still waiting for ours as well. Unevenly distributed geographically, targeting some areas before others.

IF your government tests ride in a truck in sub freezing weather, or sit in your mailbox for hours at 10F…they are useless.

Once the test kits experience ‘freezing’ , the components that detect the virus are killed…

so If your tests come in ‘winter weather’ …you’ll get ‘false negatives’ from them.

It’s so cold and icy here - the mail person hasn’t delivered anything in 3 days. Good thing, because I just made it to the mailbox today. Iced in since Wednesday’s rain, sleet, then ice, then 2 inches snow on top. Almost no one went anywhere for 36 hours. But if those test kits sat in a tractor trailer stuck on I-10 for 18 hours at 5 degrees outside…kiss 'em goodbye.
Or up north in MN…where it’s 5 to 15 below.

Good chance that a good percentage of test kits will be useless.
