IRA Home Energy Efficiency Rebates

I just sat in on a zoom seminar on WA State’s program.

  1. Up to a $20,000 rebate for projects with a 35% energy use reduction and $15,000 for 20% to 34%.

  2. You must have an energy audit from approved contractor to prove energy use reduction.

  3. DIY installation can be approved, but project must get same inspection as a contractor.

  4. You may keep your current gas furnace as a back up heat source when installing a HVAC heat pump under the program.

  5. You can use your 2024 or 2025 income to qualify for a rebate (i.e., 80% of median income for 100% rebate, up to 150% of median income for a 50% of project cost rebate.)

  6. They are promising a 14-day approval/denial period once rebate application is submitted. They are expecting program start in late Summer early Fall.

  7. WA State already has the money allocated from the Federal Gov’t, would be difficult for DOGE to claw it back.
