And they did not attack oil infrastructure.

So no wider middle east war yet.

They attacked with jet fighters and got permission to fly over Jordan and Iraq.

The Israeli military said Saturday that it had struck Iran in response to several Iranian attacks on Israel, raising fears that a long-brewing confrontation between two of the most powerful militaries in the Middle East could escalate into an all-out war. - NYT linked above

There are no fears on either side. Neither will occupy the other.

The Iranian leadership is nuclear responsible. If this goes back and forth the responsible Iranian leadership is trying to get Israel to blot out the nuclear program.

There is a reason. The SA and Iranians have good people but are not checks and balances governments by tradition where a madman is less likely ten or twenty years from now to use nuclear weapons.

Both nations have resisted getting nuclear weapons because the leaderships care about human life.

Iran has attempted somehow to negotiate with Washington. The emotions are mixed on both sides because some parts of the Iranian government complex are exporting revolution. DC can not live with that and Iran can not stop it.

Israel needs to be the problem solver.

It is all a drama.

The world says no Israel don’t do that. Have you known politics to say okay now we know exactly what we need to do and will do it? Stop living in your fairy world if you have.

A couple of follow-up items.

A C.I.A. official has been charged with disclosing classified documents that appeared to show Israel’s plans to retaliate against Iran for a missile attack earlier this year, according to court documents and people familiar with the matter.

Israel destroyed active nuclear weapons research facility in Iran, officials say

The Israeli attack on Iran in late October destroyed an active top secret nuclear weapons research facility in Parchin, according to three U.S. officials, one current Israeli official and one former Israeli official…The facility was part of the Iranian Amad nuclear weapons program until Iran halted its military nuclear program in 2003…

President Biden asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack the Iranian nuclear facilities in order not to trigger a war with Iran, U.S. officials said. But Taleghan 2 was not part of Iran’s declared nuclear program so the Iranians wouldn’t be able to acknowledge the significance of the attack without admitting they violated the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

“The strike was a not so subtle message that the Israelis have significant insight into the Iranian system even when it comes to things that were kept top secret and known to a very small group of people in the Iranian government,” a U.S. official said.

“Bibi” can act with impunity, and the US will always have his back. The US also threatened to withhold military supplies, unless Israel improved humanitarian aid to Gaza. Aid agencies report the “improvement” is tiny, and grossly inadequate, but the US has not withheld a single bullet. The incoming administration will be considerably more pro-Israel.

Are they more pro-Israel or more pro-Armageddon?

Are they more pro-Israel or more pro-Armageddon?

Some evangelical Christians look forward to Armageddon, but I do not find specific quotes from Israel ambassador designate Mick Huckabee, yearning for Armageddon.

Apparently the aid is sitting in Gaza in hundreds of trucks, but nobody wants to distribute it because Hamas will shoot at them.

We support our allies including Germany and Japan.

Germany and Japan get more aid than Israel.

Israel’s military budget is in the $26 billion area. The country probably buys around $10 billion in equipment from the US every year.

Germany and Japan spend $66 and $60 billion on their militaries respectively. But with over 10 times the population of Israel.

If either of you had experience in your family history with despots you’d see this differently.

Attack from the air is the most likely attack path from Israel.

You wonder why Iran leaves facilities vulnerable to attack. Shouldn’t they keep them deep under ground?

The Parchin facilities weren’t underground because Iran said they they weren’t part of the nuclear program.

The centrifuge enrichment program at Natanz is deep underground to foil bunker buster JDAMs. Of course, being underground doesn’t mean that they don’t use electricity. Repeated strikes on the grid supplying Natanz would stop the work there.
