Missed Calls on iPhone

I’ve been having problems getting the results of some biopsies I had taken at the dermatologists office. We have three iPhones. The boss has a iPhone 13 mini, I have an iPhone 13 and the home phone is an iPhone 8.

The doctors office swears they call the home phone and my phone and they report each phone rings once then goes to voicemail. I never receive the voicemail on either phone.

The doctors name and number are both in both phones contacts list. I suspect the nurse may be calling using her own cell but can’t prove it. Both my phone and the home phone have synced contact lists. The boss does her own thing with her phone.

I suspect I must have a switch set to avoid spam calls or something similiar is screwed up.

Any suggestions on where to look?

There is a setting that sends any incoming calls that are not listed in your contacts or that you have not called/texted to voice mail. The calling and texting for access is not any call ever - maybe the previous 30 days so. Your iPhone 8 may not have iOS 18.x - so the location for the setting will be different.

With iOS 18.x, open settings and search for “Phone” scroll down to “Silence Unknown Callers”

For older iOS versions, the same setting is in the Phone section -

iOS 18 remembers what things in Settings you have recently used and are in a row when you open up Settings.

Just to do a quick check, call your other iPhone from one of yours, or is it only the dermatologist’s office?

Also, there is that little physical switch, upper left side that kills the sound, likely you were in a theater…

And there is a Theater mode setting to check out, to be sure it’s not set wrong…

Yes, we’ve had these happen mysteriously here in the past, accidentally changed, whatever…

My health care industry has a MyHealth portal page, that I must access for any communications.

If you also have such a portal, perhaps you can access the results there, while you troubleshoot the iPhone issue?

I assume you’ve verified they have your correct phone numbers?

I assume you’ve verified you have the correct phone numbers saved on your phone/s?

Ask them for any other numbers they might use, and enter/save each to your phone under their contact info?
