NATO - A potentially dangerous move

Joe Biden’s apparent dislike of us British is taking NATO down a somewhat dangerous path. He seems to be pushing for Ursula von Leyen as head of NATO and not Britain’s Ben Wallace:

Joe Biden is pushing for Ursula von der Leyen to be installed as the next Nato secretary general after Ben Wallace’s candidacy was blocked

Besides being a convicted criminal, she was one time Germany’s defence minister. Many people still remember her in this role for all the wrong reasons:

URSULA VON DER LEYEN’s German army was so under-equipped during her time as defence minister it had to use broomsticks instead of machine guns.

I do have my doubts about the competency of Biden and what he appears to be doing now just confirms those fears. Along with Biden I imagine Putin will be in favour of Leyen as NATO chief.

Maybe it’s not a dislike of the British but a love of the One World Government espoused at Davos, Brussels, Beijing, and Moskwa . Freedom loving Brexiters are the enemy!

Blame The Capitalists. Politicians don’t do these things out of whole cloth or because in their hearts they really believe in them (Altho they might. They’re not mutually exclusive) They do them at the behest of those who get to have things they way they want them.

One world government and freedom are not mutually exclusive.

And, it has nothing to do with red herrings like Davos, Brussels, Beijing, or Moskva.

A study of history shows that mankind has been inexorably marching towards a one world government.

The only question is whether or not mankind will survive long enough to reach it.

Wherever she goes/whatever she does there are questions:

An investigative committee of the German parliament — the toughest instrument that lawmakers can use to probe government misdeeds — is digging into how lucrative contracts from her ministry were awarded to outside consultants without proper oversight, and whether a network of informal personal connections facilitated those deals.

Everything she touches goes wrong. I used to employ people and wouldn’t touch anyone with here CV.

She and Biden do have one thing in common – they both fall in an upwardly direction

True, there are economies of scale. Even under one world government it’s good to keep lots of stuff at the local level. The difficulty is keeping the AlphaTypes under control. This is not meant to be a personal allusion but the choice of userName is curious.

Never forget that each one of us is a minority of ONE!

It’s not inexorable. Look at history - Romans, British Empire, Russian (USSR) Empire, Genghis Khan are just a few examples of expansion and contraction.

They all collapse in on themselves eventually.

Given the clowns that we have in charge I’m not too worried.

I’m more concerned about the future of NATO given Von Leyen’s track record - I bet Putin can’t believe his luck.

I do not understand why you have your panties in a bunch. Didn’t you Brits think it was better to go it on your own? I wouldn’t think you would want any post that wasn’t in your own country.

Maybe UK can keep the win streak going and exit NATO along with EU.

Or maybe give more money to NATO if they want the job so bad. When your a piker you never get a good seat at the show.

What was she convicted of? I can’t seem to find anything other than accused.

Can someone summarize what the actual problem is here?

Yes, perhaps there are enough people in Britain - and education so bowdlerized there - that they will forget the Great War, when they were slogged in trenches, unable to move until others came to their rescue. And likewise, when they stood along against Germany, begging and pleading for us to help until at last Tojo answered their prayers, through the back door, admittedly.

Yes, anything is possible, but I’m thinking the people who think this a possibility are even less capable than those who voted for Brexit. My disdain apparently knows no lower bounds.

That is rich, you have no idea how industrialization works. It is not about single government in control over it all.

Divitias you are only throwing mud.

It is important on the German political front to change their budget priorities. It means taking command in central Europe. Not of other nations but of the EU with the other majors in it developing a military apparatus. Germany needs to show leadership.

As far as Biden comprehending things you are not even following along on any economics topics. I read what you write.

If I understand things correctly, which is far from guaranteed, some guy from Great Britain wants the British crook to be selected for a job at NATO, while some other guy from the USA is backing a German crook for the job.

Nah German and EU leadership v British leadership

Why would Britain bother? After the prejudice lets keep the Poles out that created Brexit? Why act as if anyone wants to hear it?

That was about the economic union, not about defense, i.e. NATO.

I see that we are getting the usual negative comments about Brexit.

No problem with that as everyone is entitled to an opinion.

However while posting on Brexit could you please declare if you have ever been ‘ruled’ by the EU. This is a US based site and I understand that most of the posters are based there and not in Europe. Just helps clarify things a bit.

The Thirteen Colonies did their Brexit back in 1776, something about being taxed from overseas or something.

I think it should be pretty obvious because the American dictionary doesn’t even have a word for “ruled”.

But I agree everyone has a right to their opinion.
