NATO Spending

This and our Latvian commitments should take care of 2022’s share with some left over. I should perhaps add that the ships are built in Halifax and great for the local economy. The way NATO spending share is calculated is somewhat wonky and intentionally left flexible.

Don’t try to tell all our self proclaimed experts (Including US Politicians when it serves their purpose) that though while they continue to spout fuzzy knowledge on the subject.

Canada Names Two Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships for WWII Heroes

Published: 30 May 2022

In a double naming ceremony at Halifax Shipyard on Sunday, the Royal Canadian Navy christened two new ice-classed patrol ships, the HMCS Margaret Brooke and HMCS Max Bernays, two WWII heroes who served with distinction at sea.

The ships are part of the fleet of six Harry DeWolf-class Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) being delivered to the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada’s controversial National Shipbuilding Strategy. Two more will be delivered to the Canadian Coast Guard, but supply-chain issues and inflation have doubled the price for the follow-on CCG contract.

Ah! Yes!

The other Margaret Brooke seems to have been a British Rajh dowager in Malasia.

Depends upon your sense of scale.

The small Baltic state of Latvia, which shares a border with both Russia and Belarus, has played host to a battle group of 1,500 NATO troops, led by 540 Canadians, since 2017. This is Canada’s largest military deployment.

Depends upon your sense of scale.

Also depends on you using up to date links so you don’t miss the arrival of an artillery battery, more infantry, a bunch of F-18 fighters and even a navy frigate as well as most of our supplies of shoulder fired Anti-Tank rockets in our inventory. We have now ordered replacements.

Trudeau showed up bearing gifts.

Once again you have disappointed me.

Oh well, consistency is important I suppose.
