I hate war but wars, aggressive and defensive, have shaped every civilization. WWII shaped my bit of it. I’m thankful for the American effort as without it I might not be writing these lines.

The allies did not win the Great War, it ended in an armistice and they lost the peace with the Treaty of Versailles. The allies won WWII by utterly crushing the Axis powers and they won the peace with the Japanese Constitution, the Marshall Plan, and Bretton Woods,
