Oligarchs Call for Peace

I have no idea if Putin is interested in what the Oligarchs want, clearly they were not in on his plan … assuming he had a plan? It is becoming clearer as the battles go on that he over estimated the quality of the forces he sent into battle and underestimated the opposition? Logistics failures abound with troops running out of food, fuel and ammunition while getting lost in unfamiliar territory. Putting the nuclear forces on alert is a dangerous move but of course he has a reputation as a gambler. Who is he going to Nuc that wouldn’t result in he personally ending up vaporized?

I wonder if he has a retirement plan … traditionally that is not how it works for dictators?

Russian Oligarchs Deripaska And Fridman Call For Peace
Mikhail Fridman, the founder of Alfa Bank, Russia’s largest private bank, became the first oligarch to speak out against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion orders, according to the Financial Times.
In the letter sent to his employees Friday and reviewed and shared by the Financial Times Sunday, Fridman, a native of Ukraine, called on the “bloodshed to end” and wrote “war can never be the answer,” though he clarified he didn’t intend for his comments to be “political.”

Russia has rope sellers too. Who knew?

Steve

clearly they were not in on his plan… he overestimated…

It’s quite early to be holding those beliefs. It’s four… days. And the oligarchs are messaging Zelensky as much or more than Putin, in a “wow, would you just go away and let this happen so we can get back to business?” approach.

Stalin II has been setting this up for YEARS. The probability of a positive outcome for Ukraine & the West is <15%. No Russian coup, no walkback, no magical intervention or stalemate. Partly because the West is too corrupt to stay the course.

David,

When the ship turns it is honest. Reagan’s supply side econ was honest. In most ways. Biden’s demand side econ is honest in most ways. It is later that the cronyisms take root.

Demand side econ puts the US and her economy before the expediency of the government supporting one company at a time. This in mind the timing for Putin is going to be hell.
