OT: Complex Catastrophes Continue

Begging your pardons in advance with this prolog as a short as possible introduction to my thinking on the Middle Eastern horrific catastrophe (while in a different universe also noticing USA’s perilous political cowardices and idiocies). Let the desperate actor shown here represent me.

I can not accept as righteous or even as reasoned any of the plans and slogans and positions of the power players I have heard on all sides of the catastrophes centered on Palestine-Israel. Only some efficient quick weeping for the already dead, the currently suffering and dying, and the lambs still to the slaughter, followed by giving aid and assistance as best one can where one can, makes sense to me.

I have friends on all sides. I have almost certainly lost one, and probably two, and three more are currently weeping with their families.

The arrogant anger manifested from the UN to the Holy Mount to University Campuses to this Board are signs of the spiritual moral bankruptcy of our times (those bankrupt of humility cannot be peacemakers except in the sense relished by Tamerlane, who simply murdered the grieving as well as the combatants.)

For a window on the complexity I am myself most sensitive to check out this movie made a few years ago:

After standing too long mutely by, the Prince of Verona desperately screams out at the end of the murderous tragedy of his people:

“ALL ARE PUNISHED!”

What crosses my mind wrt this topic.

Steve-

YES!

Shakespeare had the idiot warring clans thing down. I played Mercutio back in my school days, my drama coach even urging me to embrace acting him as “a gay blade having a very bad time.”

David,

There is no Zionism. Not any longer. The label Zionism is just an angry rant by the Arabs. The European Zionism gave way to an Arab Israel.

Meaning the Sephardic Jews are the majority. The Palestinian Israelis are 19% and Ashkenazis have Middle Eastern Y chromosomes.

Israel is an Arab nation but not a Muslim nation. The Jews in the region took something that would never have been given to them even though reparations were owed.

The Israeli courts have long paid reparations to the Syrian tribesmen who were displaced.

What is called justice? Power? Trust?

The Transjordan’s Syrian tribesmen mostly have security and peace with Israel and the support of Jordan as a satellite state.

The opposing wishes are not for peace, justice, or equality. Power.

The Russians have given the PLA and Hamas a platform.

The Palestinians have tribal leaders but no constitutional government. The PLA and Hamas when gone the tribal leaders can make peace.

Do some have a claim on Jerusalem? Yes, some do historically, but most do not at all. It is time to move on. We have no choice.

That was Netanyahu’s argument. There never would be a choice.

The Arab families were often Jewish before there was Islam. The Jewish Israel is the region’s freedom. Eventually if lucky the freedom will be embraced. Right now Israel is scapegoated to hold onto to power.
