This war will likely go on for several years. It is not a good development.
I think Israel will run out of targets long before then.
DB2
This is fantasy land of warmongers. You cannot kill 92 million Iranians.
Israel and Trump are both losing support fast.
No plan to kill 92 million Iranians. How long can a government survive these days without electricity?
DB2
Let’s check with the Taliban in Afghanistan
I dunno what you believe, that’s why I asked the question.
Iran becoming a stable, prosperous country would be great! Iran stopping their support of trouble makers would be awesome! How much bombing will it take to get them there?
Regime change is hard.
This war started in 632 CE
Why would Israel want to do that? Bibi is asking the 92 million Iranians to get rid of the Mullah regime.
The Captain
I think a more useful analog would be Lybia, where the economy collapsed, there was a civil war and Gaddafi ended up being found in a drainage pipe.
DB2
Perfect example why nobody wants to give up their nuclear weapons. Thank you.
Good example. Now, Libya’s political, security, and economic stability make it the envy of the world!
My eyes just rolled completely out of my head…
US needs to go back to focusing on its own problems, 36 Trillion debt and $1 Trillion of trade deficits and $1 Trillion in interest payments.
There is no imminent threat to the US from Iran. This neocons and warmogers are just ridiculous.
Not at all, but the point is that it didn’t involve killing 92 million locals or 20 years of fighting in the mountains (as some seem to think).
DB2
Sure. But if we’re hoping for a Libya type outcome, we’d have to be cool with creating a power vacuum that allows extremist groups to take hold, weapons proliferation, civil war, and long-term security problems for the region and world.
Creating the conditions to allow for the above, while hoping it doesn’t happen seems foolish.
With the Taliban next door. Iraq isn’t all that stable either, with it’s competing groups.
Steve
Yes, I do expect a civil war in Iran, but with the nuclear threat removed. Oil production will suffer (with China a major buyer of Iranian oil, so not good for them).
DB2
China can buy all the oil they want from Russia who your fearless leader is protecting.
Good point. Russia should benefit, as well as other oil exporters – Canada, US, SA etc.
DB2
So you are for increasing Gas prices now? I thought you were against high gas prices? I guess it only matters in what regime is in place?
You missed all the speeches, last year, about “energy dominance”? Seems that taking other country’s production off-line plays a role.
Steve
Which increases prices at the gas pump.
