Paul Allen's Collection sells for a record $1 billion

This truly is chalked full of beautiful artwork.

This Seurat was the most expensive sale at a cost of $149 million.

It is a shame that Allen wasn’t rich enough to create a museum to house this amazing sounding collection.

There are only x number of gems. The gems are worth a lot but would not populate a good sized museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has several sections with personal art collections, labeled with the original owner.

Perhaps the most remarkable collectors of all time.
