podcasts, anyone?

As someone who commutes to work 10+ hours/week and has a running addiction (40+ miles per week), I spend a lot of time with headphones on and like to balance out listening to music with podcasts (mostly business/investing related). I listen to some of the MF podcasts, though often find them uninspiring (biggest complaint is they can be very basic as they seem to want to be all things to all people). I was hoping to get some recommendations from people on this board that would be consistent with Saul’s style of investing, companies followed, etc. Any recommendations? I’ll offer one - Patrick O’Shaughnessy’s Invest Like the Best. Has a variety of guest types including VC, Crypto, AI, Big Data, etc. Thanks!

I don’t have any suggesstions but I greatly appreciate your recommendation.

  1. I just recently found Tech Crunch’s “Equity” where they talk about a lot of Cloud/SaaS companies. Both public and private.

  2. A16Z - VC firm, Andressen Horowitz – great insight into big picture tech stuff

  3. The Twenty Minute VC - More VC/investing talk – good insight into up and coming companies/industries.

I’m probably biased, but I really appreciate almost all of the Motley Fool podcasts. David Gardner’s Rule Breaker podcasts probably best fits in to the style of this board. Market Foolery offers good daily takes – about 15 minutes long – on stock news. Motley Fool Money is longer, usually about an hour, but covers the stock market news too, on a weekly basis though. Industry Focus covers interesting companies almost every day. Motley Fool Answers is more personal finance type-stuff, but I still enjoy it immensely.

How I Built This is a NPR-produced podcast that interviews entrepreneurs about how they started a company. Some of which are truly inspiring, others fall flat.

I listen to many podcast, and in addition to those already mentioned, I like:

The Tim Ferriss Show

Invest like the Best (I think this was mentioned already but wasn’t sure)

Capital Allocators (some I like, others like in depth ETF discussions, I ignore)

Masters of Scale ( just heard this for the first time, and liked it).

Jimbo

Meb Faber’s podcast is always a good one.

If I listened to all the podcasts and analyst advice I would own 1,000+ different stock tickers.

That would class with my learnings from Saul’s Knowledge base.

clash not “class”

Auto-correct is my enemy

I also like animal spirits with Ben Carlson and Michael Batnick.

I have found Jason Calacanis to be valuable. Noted Angel investor with a focus on tech start ups.

Has a video pod on youtube: This week in Start ups (aka TWIsts - available on all platforms). Looking for unicorns and has a great array of guests.

Meb Faber is good but that is really more about portfolio management versus individual equities.

Sorry, Can you tell me how to get the podcasts?

I get mine from iTunes, but there are other ways. You can always Google the podcast name and I’m sure you’ll find out where it is available.

Sorry, Can you tell me how to get the podcasts?

I use Android devices and prefer the Stitcher App :

https://www.stitcher.com/

I like pocket cast as an app- can speed up too (tend to listen at 1.1 with editing out pauses).

I listen to mostly medical & motley fool podcasts, but others I like:

freakonomics
Choiceology by chip & Dan heath (a touch of real world behavioral economics)
Hackable by McAfee (see how easy it is to hack a WiFi computer/phone/alarm system!)
99% invisible (how things intended for one use get used in others- like say, curb cutouts)

And of course, EMRAP!

Let us know what you find and like!

Again guys, IT’S TIME TO STOP THIS THREAD or I’ll have to start deleting posts, which I really would prefer not to do. It’s way Off Topic, and we’ve had 15 posts or so on it which is enough to exchange information. You can take additional discussions off-board,

thanks

Saul
