This is not necessarily a bad thing…if a child (or adult) isn’t able to communicate openly with a supportive parent, relative, friend or therapist. Which covers a lot of people. Not optimal but probably better than nothing. It would be nice if everyone (especially young people) had good communications support with actual humans but many don’t.
