Putin on the run?

{Lots of pictures and charts.}

Russia will now scale back its Ukraine invasion to just ‘liberating’ the eastern Donbas region ‘in an attempt to save face’ as Western intelligence says they have lost 20 BATTALIONS

Russia’s defence ministry also updated its losses in Ukraine to 1,351 soldiers, adding 3,825 had been wounded

Russia’s figure is far lower than Western estimates that say tens of thousands have been killed in the war

Moscow today attempted to put a positive spin on its disastrous invasion, saying it had achieved its targets

In another embarrassing blow, it was revealed today that a Russian brigade commander had died after being run down with a tank by his own troops

Good lord. Their whole fiasco is taking on the trappings of a Mack Sennett Keystone Kops Komedy.

Imagine a soldier returning home after this is all over. You might be the laughing stock to all your neighbors and bar buddies. Very humiliating.

Oh it’s way worse than that. Putin has:

strengthened NATO beyond imagining,

brought Europe closer together,

single-handedly changed energy policy in a dozen countries,

made those dreaded “capitalists” wary of putting any monies into the Russian economy for fear it could dissolve in an instant,

set Russia back economically by a decade or more,

lost face,

and signed his own resignation letter.

I have no idea how the Russian Duma works or any of the other mysterious workings of their political system, but I can pretty confidently say that he won’t be leading Russia two years from now, in spite of getting the rules changed so he could remain President for life.

I think it may have pushed back any move on Taiwan as Xi sees how disastrously this went and how quickly the West banded together to destroy the Russian economy without firing a shot. Of course China is a lot more important to the world economy than Russia could dream, but then that Russian oil and foreign reserves were a pretty big stick, or so Putin thought.

Well, if you have never driven a tank or APC it would seem that way. In truth the view for the driver is very restricted and we used ground guides when backing up or parking in restricted places. The brigade commander had a responsibility to get the frack out of the way. Or perhaps it was deliberate … nah that wouldn’t happen.

never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence and stupidity

According to the report the driver ran over the officer to avenge the stupidity that put his fellows in harm’s way. Not malice. VENGEANCE!

“fragging”

Fragging is the deliberate killing or attempted killing by a soldier of a fellow soldier, usually a superior officer or non-commissioned officer (NCO). The word was coined by U.S. military personnel during the Vietnam War, when such killings were most often attempted with a fragmentation grenade,[2] sometimes making it appear as though the killing was accidental or during combat with the enemy. The term fragging is now often used to encompass any means used to deliberately and directly cause the death of military colleagues

I never really understood Polish jokes, but Russian jokes have always been funny.

Actually China is the much bigger loser of this war in Ukraine than Russia. Western corporations are heading for the exits. Alarm over China’s fascist intentions have dramatically risen. Western governments in coordination are moving. China is now aiming to have a competitor to ASML. Things like that have us doing a reboot in the west.

Dear God we can all hope. And out of fear of provoking him into a total meltdown, they haven’t actually slapped an embargo on them; they’ve left that last bit of leverage as an incentive to stop.

Good thing his insanity put lipstick on the pig of the EU trusting their “future energy transition time” to him. Good on them for restoring some semblance of dignity, but they shouldn’t have prostrated themselves in the first place.

but then that Russian oil and foreign reserves were a pretty big stick,
