Excuse the noobie question, what is the best way to search Saul’s board for a specific stock?

Thanks

The info on these boards is great, if you can find it. But sadly the tech on these boards seems to be stuck in 1998. Have complained many times to TMF, but no answers. Would think having a subscription service would warrant keeping up with even a minimal level of accessibility, but apparently not.

Thanks All! I also got a nice email from board staff.

Kind of ironic we’re discussing all these space age lexus/bmw level tech stocks on a 1990 Corolla technology-level message board!

I just appreciate that it’s here and great FREE.

Please, no more comments on this thread. The question has been answered, so let’s leave it at that.

Thanks for helping out.

And here I was going to go suggest starting an $ESTC Elastic Search indexer on your pc, using a copy of $MDB Mongo DB to store content, and writing a quick script to make a local searchable repo.

It’s sadly pathetic that you can’t make search these boards to get usable results. Unfortunately the google approach only works with the free boards. For premium board search you’ll find yourself up search creek without a paddle.

Hello Timmcco,

Welcome to Saul’s Investing Discussions,

Since you have been a Fool member for only about a month, you are excused and forgiven for posting an off-topic question that should have been answered off-board by those who should know better. I thank those who did email you. Your specific question was answered recently here: https://discussion.fool.com/hi-ginipoh-welcome-to-the-board-plea….

You may not be aware that Saul’s board has the singular focus of analyzing and discussing individual, rapidly growing companies and secondarily the philosophy around investing in them.

That means that certain topics and basic questions that are acceptable on other boards are not appropriate here. Our board has grown tremendously in recent years, and Saul has had to establish rules, published every Monday morning, to keep off-topic and non-contributing posts to a minimum. He has also engaged several assistant board managers, who will remind posters when they veer off topic, and stop off-topic threads from continuing. The names of the Assistant Board Managers, and the DO’S and DONT’S for this board are found here:

Monday Morning Rules of the Board:

Long version: https://discussion.fool.com/monday-morning-rules-of-the-board-34…

To get a feel for this board, see Bear’s (PaulWBryant) excellent advice: https://discussion.fool.com/to-tominvest-and-mark19601962-341822…

If you are an investing novice, I have compiled a list of useful links, For Investing Novices, posted here: https://discussion.fool.com/for-investing-novices-34193680.aspx

I hope the above helps you get oriented and again, welcome to the board.

Benjamin (Locke), one of the assistant board managers engaged by Saul to help him run this incredible board, asked that the thread be stopped. Despite his request, you felt the need to add two more post not relevant to this board. I fail to understand this disrespect for Saul, his helpers, and his explicit rules.

Saul and others have requested ad infinitum that we refrain from non-contributory posts but answer off-topic questions off-board. Please review the following:

Saul’s Monday Morning Rules of the Board,

Long version: https://discussion.fool.com/monday-morning-rules-of-the-board-34…

Saul’s post, https://discussion.fool.com/i-couldn39t-have-said-it-better-3418….

While I agree with you, RoyGeeBiv, that the Fool could improve the website’s search function, this board is not the place to effectively complain about it. It would be better to contact the CEO or post your comments here, https://discussion.fool.com/improve-the-fool-100007.aspx

Saul and many investing and industry experts who contribute to this board give their time and expertise freely and generously. To maintain the high quality of this board, it is necessary to cooperate and refrain from posting information and comments that do not help us be better investors.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Despite his request, you felt the need to add two more post not relevant to this board.

You are incorrect and seemingly misunderstand how the board posts appear.

If you are going to make public admonishments (and there was no need for this), please get your facts straight. Just because a post appears chronologically under another does not mean that post followed the last one.

Let me break it down for you… on a thread with 20 posts. One may come upon the 3rd post and choose to respond. When the response to post 3 appears, it comes in as number 21. But you assume that the poster has read post 20, and you are mistaken.

Keep your whip at bay when you don’t understand how these boards work.

Since I have been personally, and wrongly, called out here, I choose to respond to correct this allegation.

Thank you for your cooperation.

RGB,

I apologize for having assumed you read Locke’s post.

I do know how the board works and that if you are in thread-mode you may also not see what has gone on in the nearly seven hours between your own two off-topic posts in this thread. In the heat of the moment I did not think of it since before posting, I use the threaded mode to make sure I do not add unnecessary material that may already have been posted. Therefore my hasty post. Sending you the message off-board, I agree, would have been a better approach.

Pease forgive me for having been overzealous in trying to keep the board streamlined and free of off-topic discussions that add nothing to the evaluation and understanding of our investments.

Best,
