Though I have skimmed a couple of reports, I have not posted on any shipping report since early Aug 2025. Skimmed through Advanced Shipping & Trading today, and found some items of interest
- Fairly busy bulker market - 19 vessels sold
- Less active market - 6 vessels sold
- 3 smaller container vessels sold
- Active newbuild container activity 20 newbuilds + 12 options
Quite interesting development on the tanker newbuild side. Hanwha Ocean (South Korea) is building 10 MR tankers and an LNG tanker at the Philly facility (the MASGA-backed initiative to revive American shipbuilding). Curious to know if these are builds with a customer in mind, or is this a “patriotism” test case, and an American buyer “shows” up ![]()
[Edit: Eastern Pacific’s acquisition of container newbuilds is also interesting. The Ofer family had a significant stake in ZIM. But to my knowledge, the family has now exited the position]
