Using report from Carriers again this week.
- Including a pair of block sales, 12 bulker sales this week
- 7 tanker sales, including 4 on the “liquid gas” side
- 12 newbuilds, all tankers
Though FLNG reported last week, I only perused their earnings call transcript yesterday. It had some interesting comments that tie well into this week report. FLNG mgmt talked about LNG market being more subdued this year. A variety of factors involved, but a big one seems to be less incentive by charterers to compete for Panama Canal slots this year. Also mentioned vessels rolling off charters not being renewed. Notice there are 4 LNG vessels being sent to scrap yard. For LNG shipping, that’s a lot for a niche tanker segment. Given the vessels appear to belong to one owner, maybe not entirely unusual.
There’s a pair of LNG tankers sold - one new, one old. The latter belonged to BW LNG and my guess it was likely coming off a time charter.
