Lots going on, and today (02/01/25) is the official news of US tariffs on China, Mexico & Canada. Still no sure on the impact to the shipping ideas. I mean, sure there are a whole bunch of US-listed shipping companies. But, for many of them, their business is international. That’s also where things get tricky. The US is an exporter on the LNG and LPG tanker segments. Will China retaliate with their own sanctions against US products? Don’t know, but something to watch
Using Advanced Shipping & Trading (Week5) report
- On the bulker side, mix of modern (7 vessels ) and older tonnage (5 vessels)
- On the tanker side, a newer 2017-bult VLCC, plus 7 older tankers (including an enbloc trade involving 4 vessels)
- An older LPG vessel and a smaller container vessel also sold
Among the sold vessels, some known entities - a Panamax (NMM as seller), a Suezmax (NAT as seller), Cap Lara (was in Euronav/CMBT fleet at one time), and Asian Ace (was in SFL’s fleet).
A more general comment - For the non dry bulk vessels sold, kudos to the sellers. In particular, the previous owner of a 2001-build LPG tanker.
