According to reports, everyone on the plane, three crew and seven passengers, were all killed. Apparently it took off and climbed to 29,000 ft, then rapidly descended to ground level, like there was an altitude triggered bomb on board.

Financial Times is claiming they were shot down by Russian anti-aircraft.

MSNBC is reporting then 8 bodie were found, of the 10 on the manifest… Also the 2nd plane landed OK, so it’s unclear who was on which flight…

I just saw a clip filmed on a potato cam. It’s barely clear enough to see the plane going straight down. Also a very suspicious bit of white stuff in the sky resembling an explosion, just above the plane in the first few frames of the video. With a straight line heading through it. Missile? Bomb? Can’t say.

When a plane augers in, you don’t pick up bodies. You pick up parts. After a while, you might be able to assemble enough parts to get a handle on how many bodies you have. One of the guys at OD, was AF Reserve. He was on the cleanup detail when a Comair turboprop iced up and augered in south of Detroit. Nothing but a big crater, with bits of metal and meat laying around.

In the aftermath of Prigozhin’s rebellion, Putin needs something more spectacular: theatrical, public violence; violence of the kind that brings down a plane soon after takeoff in the middle of a sunny day; violence designed to terrify anyone who secretly wished for Prigozhin’s victory.
He may soon need a lot more of it.

He had a hard choice to make. If he left Russia, he would not have a brigade of mercs to protect him. Stay in Russia, and he’s on Putin’s home turf.
The evening news noted today is two months to the day from the start of the Wagner mutiny. Message sent: mess with Putin, and he will get at you, even if you have a brigade of mercs protecting you.

She is easily right…and well could be wrong. If you were playing poker in Russia right now watch what Putin and a few of the others do. This is not simple. This is not just putting up a warning. This can also force others in the circles of power into action against Putin. Even if Putin might not have ordered it.
Unless Applebaum knows Putin ordered this then she does not know either. There were no major ads taken out in the NYT, “come work for Vlad”. Instead a military unit shot down this plane. Odd thing…It might have been an accident. No one can admit that with any veracity either.
