I will be pretty unhappy if my Feste Award plaque and years of recs are dropped from my ID. And I don’t want my e-mail or name to be public. Maybe I’m not understanding the system.

After a brief look, my preliminary impression is that, having gotten rid of the most popular boards, they want to also get rid of the most popular features of the software.

That would be my surmise. When they closed the non-financial boards they also closed some well known company boards which didn’t have a lot or traffic. Or any, in a few cases. Two on my favorites board surprised me: Starbucks and WalMart.
Seriously? Starbucks and WalMart? Starbucks was, for a time, what we would now call a meme stock or at least a super-fast grower. It may have even been part of one of the early Fool portfolios, and the board got hundreds of posts a week. It also seems a candidate for a pickup, given that Howard Schultz is handing over the reins for the third time, so the company will be heading in (yet another) direction as they try to return to growth mode.
WalMart, of course, is Americas giant, in every neighborhood, experimenting with all manner of store sizes and layouts, and has long been a leader in logistics and pricing, and is striving to catch Amazon in an on-line presence.
So yeah, no boards for Starbucks or WalMart? And presumably lots of others, perhaps all the others.
We’re reading tea leaves here, but the brew isn’t looking too good.

I had no idea they could take the current boards, run on severely out-of-date software that is frustrating to use… and make things worse.

I dunno. I’m getting pretty tired of hauling my Feste nominee thingy around. It’s always taking up space somewhere. I do kinda like the crown, though. Makes me feel like royalty. And all just for saying things people like. Heck, I don’t even have to be right, just likeable.
