Update 15.4 issues anyone?

have updated to new Sequoia update 15.4 on both my MBPro and DHs iMac. We’re both experiencing flickering screens on our computers when we try to access our various sites. Anyone else experiencing this? Having an awful time…

Neither my wife or I have had any such issues with 15.4 and I have not seen any online comments suggesting problems.

That said - in early 2025 I had some weirdness I could not resolve without turning off Apple’s AI system. Just after 15.3 came out my wife had a different odd behavior. Since both of us have exactly the same software and our machines have the same chip sets, when either of us have issues it almost has to something specific our individual machine - corrupted files, not being rebooted recently or maybe my face is scaring the video system.

It turns out both our issues were solved by running the Onyx Cleanup Utility with its default settings. You may want to think about a clean up. The tool I used is Onyx which as I understand it is just a front end using the maintenance tools that are part of MacOS that are supposed to run automatically from time to time.

Thx will try that - strange that both computers are experiencing similar flickering , if we keep clicking on different options within the sites, the flickering eventually stops. Weird!

nope, tried that - installed and ran onyx - flickering continues. Both of us have re-booted too…

Have you checked to see if the Display section of Setting matches your displays?

Also there may be a “Calibrate” section - at least I have that as an option in “Preset”. Never done that so I don’t know what it does.

Bummer… I thought maybe a loose connector, but that can’t be happening on both systems… I also looked at, updated, my OnyX, (Thanks GWP), I had it from ages ago, hadn’t updated or used it in ages… ran clean here, and I’ve not seen the flickering here, but I’m on a Mini M2, with an external Dell monitor so no help there…

I just searched the Apple Discussions, found a couple similar, but not necessarily Sequoia 15.4, they suggested running Apple Diagnostics, I’d forgotten about it, bit maybe worth a try, if that shows something, it seems the fix is to take it to an Apple Store for repairs…

Best of luck, it is odd both of your macs are acting up…

Agreed - both right after the upgrade. Strange. Will try diagnostics and then maybe call to Apple. Sigh….

I think I found the issue - there is a conflict between 1 Password and the new OS! The flickering happens when I use one of my links from 1 PW. I’ve used 1PW for years and years - however never updated to Version 8 because the passwords cannot be printed in hard copy from that version. So we’ve stuck to version7 which permits the password printing. I’ve always been aware that Version 7 is not supported by Agilebits and could run into problems when OS is updated but this is the first time its happened and is causing problems. Now, have to figure out if updating 1PW from Ver.7 to Version 8 is worth losing the ability to print . Got away with this for a long time. now have to ponder path forward. Sigh…

While strictly correct, you might want to reconsider. You can export to a CVS file. CVS files can be opened with Excel or Numbers from which you can print.

Additionally why would anybody want a paper copy? That is only a step removed from Post-Its or using 123456 as a password in terms of security.

With the latest update, Apple has their own Passwords App, I haven’t looked into it much, other than knowing it’s there now.. Never used 1PW or other password apps, fear of them blowing it, rather control my own, and as you do, occasionally print out the saved info, which I keep in an Excel file… I need to go through clean up things, but as I’ve worked on family systems, I need to track some of these, too for fixits… Anyway, you might consider looking into Apple’s PW solution… It tells me a lot of my old accounts need to be updated, but stubborn me likely won’t change much, if it’s not financial, most don’t matter anyway… Some are ancient accounts I haven’t used in years… Or they folded, etc…
