The version I heard the news report was that the “arty deal” is for US investment in the Ukrainian mineral sector, for which the investing US companies would receive a reasonable return. Not the extortion that TIG was demanding.

Maybe mining interests will be protected by a benevolent military force, which might secure some sectors of Ukraine.

The narrative being spread by the media is the same one the Sec Treasury offered in his interview with Maria B, (which I posted but it was FA’d, go figure) The narrative is that, while there is no explicit USian security guarantee, he said there is an “implicit” guarantee, because, when USian interests stand to make a pile of loot off of Ukraine, they will pressure the government to protect their interests (United Fruit Company 2.0)
So, who will double cross Ukraine first? TIG, or Putin?
