What ever happened to the data storage REITs

I have been looking back at some old posts of mine. One thread from 2016 concerned data center REITs. I was a bear. Went to look up what the REITs (DFT, CONE & QTS) and none of them exist today, at least under the same ticker symbol.

What ever happened to DFT, CONE or QTS?

Other data center REITs?

Just curious.

PS Looking back at one’s old posts can be humbling!

DFT was acquired for stock by Digital Realty Trust (DLR) in September, 2017 https://investor.digitalrealty.com/news-and-events/news/pres…

CONE was acquired for cash by KKR (Kohlberg, Kravis & Roberts) and GIP (Global Infrastructure Partners) in March, 2022 https://cyrusone.com/press-release/kkr-and-gip-complete-acqu…

QTS was acquired for cash by Blackstone (BX) in August, 2021 https://www.blackstone.com/news/press/blackstone-funds-compl…

Other data center REITs?

DLR and EQIX are still around.

Also IRM has a division which includes data centers. Definitely not a pure play.

thanks for the info. Looking back 5 years ago I was looking at a few threads where I was arguing against certain REIT investments.

Called JCAP perfectly, all you had to do was read their actual documents. Was right on hotel REITs, but who could have predicted COVID.

Was off a little on my views on data center REITs, I thought they, and the sector in general, were attracting too much capital, were too richly valued and growth would likely fall, but they have done OK - better than VNQ!

And Swch is looking to become a Reit 1/23 if they do not get sold by then.
